If you track back to the blog, the owners of Meydan completely disavow the chef. They say he has nothing to do with the place.

Which rather begs the question of WHY you would pay all that money...

You UK salary plus housing and you will save money. Make sure you have all bills included in the housing to save any unwanted surpises.

Even WITH falling rents groceries, buying a car, going out and trying to live a life will leave you with VERY LITTLE of that wage left.

I currently describe Qatar as Saudi with out the fun.

I don't have first hand experience of Saudi but form what I can gather on from this site it seems it is rather misunderstood.

Garveys Shut down months ago. Well New Years Eve to be precise.

Rugby and Golf Club both still open.

New Rules you CAN NOT get a drink in ANY BAR before 5PM that includes those above.

The Irish Harp is the ONLY PUB type bar in town and right now a pint is 40 Rials or 6.47 in New money.

ALL bars are now members only BUT you can become a member just by turning up paying a small...

With a family of very young kids, pre school I would say Qatar is fine as your time would be taken up by them.

Making good friends here has made it worth it for me plus meeting my wife here...

With a family Doha is fine as you won't be going out much anyway. Personally given the choice Dubai is better. Plus you can travel without having to worry about exit permits.

DESS is the best school in Doha. Several friends with kids there and they are doing very well.
