Only in NZ for a year, but generally have found it more expensive in comparrison to wages. (im on 59k Nz and for the same job would be on 60k in Aussie with big tax breaks)

We were up there a few weekends ago (glorious!) however stayed in Ohukune which was fab.. little chalet (far more basic thatn your looking at) but location great for supermarket, restaurants, cafes...

Ive been in Perth on and off for 6 years I love it... presently out in NZ and CANT wait to come home.
I prefer South of the River to the north, but thats only my preference, lots of others prefer it...

We use xtra (fast speed? my arse!) However for phone, I use a phone card - go-talk, for international calls its pretty cheap and you can top up from home once you have the first card.

Still a damm sight better than we have in New Zealand! I currently have the choice of cabbage, cauli, broc carrots and turnip in my supermarket.. Nothing else on the veggie front.

Im amazed at this, I have (generally) got great customer service in Perth. To the point that on returns to the UK (particualry WHS Smith in MCr Airport) Im astounded about how rude and unhelpful...
