Well arrived home Dec 18th 2012. We are currently renting, have bought a new home, won't be ready until end of June. Can't wait:)

12 year old dog endured the flight from Toronto - Manchester very well and has settled. She was one of my main priorities :)

My daughters have settled very nicely into their new lives, school is great and they are in lots of extra-curricular activities, for a small town, there is lots for them to be involved in. Hubby prefered his Canadian job, will i'm sure he'll settle more, over time - he loves where we live though. The view from the back of our new house is unbloked, hills, trees and sheep,(and only a 25 min drive to my beautiful Edinburgh) - a far cry from Canadian sub divisions.

I will look for a part time job Jan 2014 once my eldest has settled into her
1st year of High school.

All in all, good! best decision we made coming home - for now at least;)

Thanks for posting this its a nice shot of joy when your 'wobbling.' Should be back in about one month.

This is music to my ears :) So glad you are all settling in well! The Edinburgh area is no doubt where I will end up, too

We wobbled too - you never know if it's the right call, but you'll also never know, unless you try...............I had wanted to return after about 4/5 years in Canada, but at that time UK had not lifted the quarrantine on animals and I would not have put my dog through that - so after 13 years , it seemed like the right time for us all..............

Good luck with your move and to you too Windsong!!!

Thanks, Dollface.

I wouldn't have put my pets through quarantine either. I would have stayed here with them.

I am ever so grateful quarantine is not necessary now. I do still wish they could all (two little dogs and two cats) stay with me in the cabin of the plane, though ;) Actually, when I make the move, I might just sail because I have heard it's better for them. We will see :)

Such good news!!! And I echo what vikingsail said: great for the wobbles

One thing: you said your view was "unbloked." Wouldn't mind if there were no blokes, as I am bringing mine, but glad to hear there are sheep :D

Yeah, still new and finding our feet but glad to be home:) it has it's issues, like anywhere, economy sucks, the choices in the grocery stores are not as good as I had remembered it to be, and Canada (as much as I complained about it while being there) has more choice in that dept - but I'd still choose being here over anywhere else.

Long may it continue:fingerscrossed:

Good to hear from you Doll...glad things are working out for you. The thing I find frustrating is going to the supermarket on Sundays and finding that there is hardly any fresh produce/bread/meat.

How exciting :) Have a safe and wonderful trip...by my calculations you should nearly be in Newark :) That seems like an unreasonably LONG flight from LA to Newark (I'm presuming EWR is Newark, at least that's what I found when I did a search on airport codes. LOL )

I think they're still in Newark, too. Must be tiring but exhilarating at the same time :)

Yes it looks like it :) The onward flight doesn't leave for another 2hrs 15 minutes :) Have to love the flight tracker.. LOL I would be biting my nails right now, just itching to get on that last flight and to leave the US coastline behind. :) I bet they are so tired already! But hopefully they can sleep on the next flight :D

Hey you guys, thanks SO much for cheerleading our journey!!!
All the support just makes my heart happy.:D

As some of you know, my husband is a recent quadriplegic and just 3 months to the day since discharge from hospital. The longest he has been out of bed at one time prior to this, has been 9 hours, he gets really uncomfortable as he can't move and shift position to relieve pressure as you and I do without even thinking about it.
From the time I got him up in LA, and packed his special air mattress, until I had it set up at home here, he had been out of bed for 25 hours. He was such a trouper and I'm so proud of him.:)
The kitties were little troupers too and so happy to see us that they are not at all turning the cold shoulder to me which I had fully expected!
I've been home a lot myself in the last few years to stay with dad who's 92 now and perhaps the biggest reason for us making the move as we did but it still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm here for good and I don't have to rush to get everything done before I have to leave again, I can just get on with living now, here, at HOME.
