We will fly over our home on the approach to Manchester...it's warming up to 11..lol....but the light nights and Spring is on its way....just think a new start, new adventure and just take your time settling in again....plenty of good British men out there (when and if you feel like courting again)....like the country they do get a bit of ribbing but they are some of the best....Good luck and best of wishes for the future.

I met If1 and her spouse today in New York City....they are a lovely couple :)

Will be thinking of you both, Pombat and Britwhore families + the 4 canines as you set sail from Brooklyn at 5pm on Friday (local time ET or 10pm in the UK)

I did this very same journey from NY to Southampton on the Queen Mary 2 just a month ago (although sadly I had to fly back to New Jersey) and it's a wonderful way to de-stress, relax and have some breathing space after the hectic time of packing up in North America and starting the next chapters of their lives in the UK.

Bon Voyage! :thumbup::thumbsup:

The QM2 webcam is here, with a bit of luck soon after 5pm there may be a good view of seeing her going under the Verrazano Bridge as she heads out of NY harbour to the open sea:

Hi K.... yes I did get your text.

Hey Peeps.....the QM2 is imminently about to set sail!

Check the webcam!

http://www.cunard.com/Ships/Queen-Ma...ridge-Web-Cam/

Btw - the clock on the webcam is set to Greenwich Mean Time (the airline industry calls it Zulu time, not sure about shipping) ie. an hour behind British Summer Time

Au Revoir! :thumbup::britflag:

We have 7 days to track the ship... :cool:

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!

OK it's 6.07pm ET (11.07pm UK) and the Verrazano Bridge is in sight! :cool:

Oddly enough, someone has just posted this high quality documentary (which I saw on the telly a few days ago) all about the Queen Mary as she is departing from New York enroute to Southampton.

It's for 45 minutes, but it is absolutely fascinating and well worth watching (especially when you see how it leaves the port!). The Captain and Hotel Manager aren't the same ones as when we were onboard last month - the Captain is Chris Wells (who is a lovely, lovely modest man) and the Hotel Manager is a Scot (we were invited to dine at his table one evening) and for the life of me I can't remember his name!

What a way to move back to the UK! Much nicer than going by air, methinks :)

Bon Voyage to everyone!

I don't know you, but reading some of your posts as you prepared for this trip has really been great. I'm such a mushy person...I find myself a little teary eyed as I read these recent posts and watch the webcam, imagining how you all must be feeling as you set out on this journey home. I am so happy for all of you.

Arrived in Southampton this morning and what a glorious day. The sun even made its way up to Scotland and it is a lovely sunny evening here in the Scottish Borders.

The trip was fab and we met some really nice people. I would highly recommend it.:)

I have only just had the chance to catch up with this thread. We made it back! The QM2 was fantastic, thumbs up from all members of the family. Our kids particularly enjoyed the Juilliard workshops. We have had a brilliant day catching up with family - both my parents, my father inlaw and brother in law all came to Southampton to meet us, and we've also seen my brother and sister and their respective families today. What a crazy few weeks we have had! We're staying in my sister's house while she is on holiday ( she left this afternoon, perfect timing)and then we will camp out in our house until our container shipment arrives. I can't describe how happy I am to be with family and to know that it is not just for a short visit.
The QM2 was truly a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. :thumbsup:
