The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!

I think it's about time we started a thread to wish 'Bon Voyage' as BE posters fly home - to maybe track their flight/s and think of them as they begin their new adventures as they return to live in the UK

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to track the QM2 cruise ship (but we know anyone going home on that ship is going to have a fab time in any case)

The first person on this thread whom is going home is Jackie (aka LdyinLV). She leaves Las Vegas this evening (25th January - local time).

She is on British Airways Flight BA0274, departing at 20.10 or 8.10pm local time.

You can track her flight on http://www.ba.com

or I prefer to use:

http://www.flightstats.com (or http://www.flightstats.co.uk in UK airspace)

This site will inform you when the plane departs the gate, when it goes down the runway, departs, arrives and you can track in real time by map.

I doubt that Jackie will be on BE today, too much to do and too little time....but let's all wish her "Bon Voyage" and much happiness and good health as she begins her new adventures in England

PS: I suggest that this thread is resurrected for each BE poster whom is imminently heading off to the UK, so please don't go off-topic (plenty of other threads for that LOL!)

It's maybe not exactly tracking, but here is a link to the webcam on the Queen Mary, which gives the ship's position.

Well on my reckoning Jackie should be well on her way to the airport now - I wonder how she is feeling - less than 3 hours to her flight take off!? To say I'm exceedingly jealous would be an under-statement :D

How long before flight departure do you have to check in over in the US? In Australia it is either 2 or 3 hours depending on the airline....

Oooohhh this is so exciting, just like when Rodney departed!!:thumbsup:

I believe for an overseas flight it is 2 hours. At least that's what it was last time I went back to the UK (2009). Of course, I am one of those people who usually gets there 3 hours before - just in case - you never know what delays there can be on the way to the airport!

It was 2 last time I flew home in November 2010 - regardless it is 2 hours to take off so Jackie has to be at the airport now

And Derrygirl I am like you too, always the early bird!! Couldn't bear to miss that plane!!

Gawd I wish they had a webcam on Jackie's plane LOL!!

EDIT

I just checked and the flight takes 9 hours and 55 minutes into Heathrow, not long now Jackie!! I thought the flight would be much longer.

It must be a bittersweet moment for many expats returning home - and I think the lyrics of this song kind of sums it up:

She couldn't wait to get out of here and they left the gate 27" early but by the time they got off the ground it was 7" before departure time.
I can imagine the tears were really rolling. Think of your makeup girl:lol:

I keep visiting this video over and over again, well about 6 times anyway.

I think I'll get some shut eye so I will be up when she arrives.
First of all I'm going outside to see if I can the the lights of her plane because it should be overhead by now.

Cheers!

If only all of us who have returned or will be returning could have that kind of welcome. Some of us are coming back to no family, and friends that we have to find and rekindle the friendship flame. Perhaps an idea would be that if we know of someone who is returning back to UK and there will be no one there to meet them, if we live close to that airport and can spare the time we could meet them at the airport have a cup ot tea or coffee and assist them to where they are going. It is the small things that make such a difference to those of us who came alone, just a friendly face at the end of a long journey can make all the difference. Just an idea.

I agree totally Peigi!!! That is what Tanto, Rosie, Don, Windsong, Gab and myself and others were proposing on the returnee thread.........Rosie (Islandwoman) has an idea to get a Facebook Homecoming page happening.

I COULD be near living/working to Heathrow very soon and if so would be honoured to meet any of our returnees, mind you I CANNOT sing like these guys or anywhere near it LOL!!

OK......as Dontheturner is leaving from the Far East, local time there is 7 hours ahead of the UK and 12 hours ahead of the Eastern Seaboard in the US (eg. New York, Philly, Washington DC, Florida etc.)

Sentosa is leaving on the same date, but still has many hours to go before departure.

So - to track Dontheturn and wife Tim:

He is on flight BA10 on the leg from Bangkok to London Heathrow on 21st Feb:

http://www.flightstats.com or http://www.flightstats.co.uk

http://www.britishairways.com/rtad/travel/public/en_gb

As far as I can tell, the BA website states that the flight departed at 00.31hrs (about 20 mins late) but not sure if it has pulled back from the gate and taxiing or has actually taken off?

I pulled up this info (but it might time out):

http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...lightNumber=10

Anyway....unless they missed their regional connection into Bangkok, they're on their way to Heathrow!

OK....Sentosa has departed slightly ahead of schedule on the Virgin Atlantic flight #VS28 from Orlando to London Gatwick and her plane is currently over the Atlantic Ocean, heading northeast:

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us...atus/index.jsp

or of course for extended details of the flight (eg. when leaves the departure gate, taxis on to the runway, departs and real-time maps of the flight tracker, go to:

http://www.flightstats.com (US airspace) Go to the flight tracker for a real-time map!

http://www.flightstats.co.uk (UK airspace)

Bon Voyage! :)

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought they were not supposed to land until the 22nd which is tomorrow. If I am wrong and they are already there, has anyone heard from them yet? I know it's early, but I am so excited for them!!

PS: Looked up the flight. They arrive in Heathrow at 5:49 am local time on the 22nd. Only a few hours to go :)

Arrived safely after a good flight managed to get some sleep we had 4 seats between the 2 of us. Gatwick was misty and gray , and still rather gray this afternoon, but saw my first snowdrops and daffodils are all in bud. Doesn't feel too cold not as cold as Florida as been this winter.
