Your dreams came true:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Windsong...if I had any advice to give, it would be to familiarize your pets with being in a crate (if they're not already comfortable with that), and acquaint yourself with the DEFRA procedure well before you need to begin the process. Please don't be intimidated, it's very, very straight forward, I promise! :) Even if you're taking more than one pet, it's the same procedure so don't let that put you off. It's not such a bureaucratic nightmare as it may first appear. My Golden has settled really well and is having great fun exploring his new surroundings. He suffered absolutely no ill-effects from his transatlantic journey. When I picked him up from Pets on Jets he was running around the office wagging his tail, carrying his leash in his mouth. I think we tend to bestow human traits on our pets and assume our fears are their fears too, which isn't the reality of how they function. They pick up energy from us, positive and negative, and that influences their behavior, but they live in the moment and don't anticipate possible future problems the same as we do.I'm sure your pets will be fine. As long as they're with you, they'll be happy as larks. :D |

HI Fatcat65
Not sure when the move is going to happen, we are overwhelmed right now. We have 2 cats and 2 dogs that we have not even started the DEFRA process with. It will more than likely be next Spring. But we are considering mabye Harrogate or somewhere else close to the dales The first step was telling my Parents, they are extatic to say the least! |

Reminder:
May I gently request that this thread be reserved purely for making posts about confirmed flights which posters are imminently embarking on to return to the UK and where other BE posters may post good wishes for their journey and 'Welcome Home' Otherwise the thread 'drifts' to other topics. Thank you! :) |

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
I think we need a little side bar calendar so people can put their dates and flights on so we can "stalk" (aka cheer enviously as they land!!!). Who is next and when???

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
Oooh, checked in a bit late here but Cally has landed as well! Welcome home, Cally!!! Landed early too - 10.31! These planes just know that they have important returners on them and they need to get there ahead of schedule!
Just as an aside, anyone with an iphone can download a flight radar application and actually see the planes as they land at Heathrow (on radar!) It's pretty good and it is free! (flight radar 24) |

Correct Quoll!!! Arrived right on time, not the best flight I have ever had, but I am home. Terrible saying goodbye to my daughter and kids, but it is done now, got really bad on the plane crying and so on.:(
The weather is grey and rainy and a bit cold. I tried to sleep for a few hours but am over tired now. My 2 sisters picked me up, just waiting for my mum and brother and his wife to come around and a few others will pop in. Will check in again when my head gets back into the right time zone, its all a bit fuzzy at the moment. Hope you're settling in well & enjoying being back. You heard on the job yet? :fingerscrossed: it works out. |
Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
David - aka 'High Tide' is leaving today, Tuesday 8th March. He's flying with Air Canada from Vancouver (YVR) to London Heathrow (LHR) early evening local time, arriving in London on Wednesday lunchtime: AC flight 854 dep YVR @ 6.15pm Tues arr LHR @ 11.50am next day Bon Voyage David and doggy! Have a safe journey! The Air Canada Flight Status info can be found here: http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...index.html#299 but to see the position of the aircraft enroute (with maps too!) you can input AC854 here: http://www.flightstats.com and http://www.flightstats.co.uk I should think that David's dog is being taken for a very long walk right now! (approx 2pm in New Jersey, 11am in Vancouver) :) |

David's flight is now enroute - the departure was delayed by approx 30 minutes
(silly me, I'd forgotten he was taking a moggy with him!). Is David's partner on the same flight - I can't recall if they were flying together or not? |

No - his partner stayed in England to sort their new house out. I think it's in Devon or Cornwall. I think they want to turn it into a bed and breakfast place. Sounds wonderful!! |
