Hmm, I've taken about 20 out of LHR T4 this year, including 2 weeks
ago (oh the joys of visiting Leiden), only once have there been
significant delays anywhere, which was at security, so from my
experience, you'd definately be "unlucky".

Maybe it's the fact I always fly very early, or mid-day, never at the
rush times.

Believe me, had there been an economic way to avoid flying through
London, I would have used that, but there was no choice at that time :-(

I agree. However IMHO in the current situation you have to
plan on the unlucky, and not the lucky, timings

This was mid-day (as I think was apparent from the use of the
word 'lunch').

The use of breakfast in my response was probably misleading as it was
an 11:40 or so flight...

Everything has a price.

Next year I have several options for the route from Cairo to
Yucatan - but I like London and New York so I'm prepared to
suffer the hassles of their airports for the pleasure of
re-aquainting myself with the cities.

I feel like one of the Cornish miners (luxury! :-)

I was lucky enough to be flying out to Singapore on 23 July
2003.
http://www.eurofound.europa.eu/eiro/...k0308103f.html
It took us 2 1/2 hours in a queue to get in the door. 14
hours later we flew out because Qantas executive staff
eventually manned the check-ins. Most BA flights didn't
leave at all that day.

You must be living on some other planet to the rest of us. Here on
Earth the airlines were complaining from day one and while Heathrow
can be a pain its sheer bliss compared with the chore of passing through
airports like JFK or SEATAC

LHR will provide you with something to tell your friends when you get home :-)

It's amazing how many post about their airport experiences but sod all about
their experiences at their destination.

I loved London and all of the British Isles. I post the
airport experiences here and the latter on the blog. I've
just been lazy lately and stalled at Slovenia:-)

what is the situation elsewhere re cabin baggage? I dont remember it
ever being much different from only taking one bag on, its got a bit
smaller and more enforced, the reason being fairly obvious.

Oh, Alan, my guest over the weekend has type 2 diabetes. I went to your
website, and took your idea for burgundy beef- went down a treat! I
served it with turmeric quinoa- worked excellently.

Thanks:-)

I hope your guest also read some of the other pages?

Incidentally, turmeric is a wonderful spice and has other
health advantages. If you want to get the most out of it,
always add a little cracked pepper.
