The change from sat tv to the various forms of internet Tv will require some to manage their TV viewing in a way that was not necessary before.

Is there any hope we might get some kind of sat TV back again & if so, what & when?

How far south are you ?
You may be one of those who with an upgrade of your current equipment, possibly a larger dish could get BBC etc back again.
We poor Algarvians have no hope unless we want dishes bigger than our homes.

Sorry i must disagree i don't have to manage my viewing i just switch Filmon on and select a program. Nothing to hard there to do.
All we seem to here is what's happened but nobody seems to bothered to find an option they seem to expect that the satelite will just come back.
For anything i miss by using the Mediahint Addon in Firefox i just go to the channel i want and use catchup etc. But i have my computer connected to my TV. With the many options to just plug into your TV a box that runs via your wifi it is a very good option.

Peter you will have seen reports that some watching Internet TV are seeing a reduction in their speed and a decline in quality at busy times.
These are early days and certainly when the summer comes and demand rises in holiday areas popular with Brits we may learn a lot more about which options work and which do not.

But it's not about a summer problem it's about the here and Now. For those who live here it's an answer now that's needed not waiting till summer.
Why should i care i have all i need.

Until the system is tested at full capacity then any solutions suggested today cannot be regarded as anything other than temporary.
The comparison is between driving on a motorway in January and again at peak times in August.

And Peter. I will not have wifi. Could I afford 2000 GB per month?

You seem to be a wait and see person so OK you wait and see what happens but should everybody else do the same as you?

You will not have Wifi why not i have it but i use cable from my router to my computers for that tiny bit of extra speed it gives. 2000 GB, 2000 what? Euro's, flying pigs?????
If you have internet by PT and pay by direct debit you get totaly unlimited download speeds. After 2 years 7 months of TV everyday as the radio here is crap. I download Films and TV programs as and when i choose. From the day i arrived here in Portugal i have never had a satelite dish i have always had my computers.
Instead of complaining because i post about answers to getting TV try and find an anwer that suits yourself and if it does then share with others. But don't critisize when someone lets others know what they could do.

Peter. I was not criticizing you. I was asking. I pay per MB upload and download via wireless. To download a movie will cost plenty.

Peter, there are many out there wanting to take money NOW for internet based solutions.
You are right my view is, if you can wait then do so.
As an experiment we tried the BBC news on Filmon when in the Algarve two weeks ago.
The picture was Ok at best but definetly declined from around 6.00pm when the locals got back from work/school etc and switched on their comps.
We normally have a good internet connection having recently upgraded.

I take it if you are downloading via wireless than are you using a dongle?
Unless you can get a phone line then a dongle or something like the Tooway satelite internet option may help but it's not cheap.

I'm in Figueiro Dos Vinhos which is almost equidistant between Lisbon & Porto but slightly closer to Lisbon.
