The reason behind having more than one in the car is for safety reasons, if there is only 1 person in the car and they have an adverse reaction there is no one else to high light the issue

It looks like the increase in cases was smaller today (Allow me hope as I clinging to second derivatives!) Also it's becoming more clear that it's mostly and Auckland/Wellington problem. The geographical isolation makes it easier to quarantine those cities and send the rest of the country back to work.

Actually something totally unexpected happened today. A journalist asked a really pertinent question in the daily press conference. They asked if there has been any cases of transmission outside if households or if it was all internal reinfection. Whoever that was is clearly too clever and motivated by half, send them to the salt mines!

Maybe but in the UK around 90-95% of people already have antibodies.

They need to get the cases back to zero pretty fast or I can see big problems. hopefully 4 or 5 weeks and it will be zero again.
By the time it takes to vaccinate another 60% then do a 4 to 6 week cycle between vaccines it will be after Xmas probs.

Extending the period shouldn't slow the vaccination rollout.

Official advice on duration is "several weeks" in Auckland. If health services cannot snuff out the virus by November Government will likely have that second option because enough of the population will be vaccinated.

New Zealand has about half a million doses of vaccine in storage and ready to use, full speed ahead!

Actually turned out to be incorrect info, having rang the help line the next morning & waited 25 mins.

I then did manage to get a jab at the drive in after a long wait. I would say 25-50% of cars were solely occupied, so many either hadn’t read the details in the email or wasted time ringing the helpline number.

However pity those without a car, they’d be back of the queues again.

UK 29 v NZ 22 doesn't seem to be a vast difference but the only thing that really matters here is that we're doing better than Aussie at 31 .

Ok so 18 more days of Level 4, and probably another two weeks at Level 3 afterwards, means lockdown til October ☹️

but

‘Everyone continues to be with you’

and good news we’re having record levels of CV19 vaccine bookings.

The cure for aversion to getting the jab is an even stronger aversion to getting Covid-19.

Unfortunate to hear the number of cases actually went up again in Auckland. While I tend to think Covid-19 will eventually become an endemic virus I had hoped we would have more time to vaccinate before that pivot.

We have had plenty of time to vaccinate.
The only thing preventing it happening has been the prime minister and govt

I'm probably wrong here.
Is the reason that OZ and NZ are behind. is they havent contributed anything to the development and relied on other countries investing and developing the vaccines.
In turn means your at the bottom of the Que to obtaining the vaccines?

There's a whole bunch of reasons and one of them was demand; Pfizers quite rightly deemed countries like New Zealand and Australia lower priority and many on the ground here were happy to wait their turn as we didn't have COVID running wild in the country when others like India were in absolute crisis mode. Up until about two weeks ago when no-one was really stressing about not yet having had their jabs and were reasonably happy with the pace of the rollout.
