Spot on actually. Although Graham Norton did use it on one of his shows, probably more because of it's resemblance to products you were inferring....

Wahey! Toon squeeze past Atomtomritatas 2-1 on aggregate and are into the group stage of the Europa Cup.

This is a good thing.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, unfortunately.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

This made me lol this morning (from the transfer deadline day BBC online coverage):

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has raised the possibility of striker Dimitar Berbatov returning to Tottenham. It was thought the Bulgarian was destined for Fulham, but Ferguson said: "He has not gone yet. I do not know anything about it. There's not been any contact from him. He could be anywhere. I really mean that. I wouldn't be surprised if he was at Tottenham. There are rumours going around. I do not think it is settled at Fulham."

I wonder if Fergie has checked the Old Trafford bench? If you've seen a man fitting Berbatov's description (tall, slow moving) please contact us via twitter or text.

That is a cracker....how long is flippin Fergie going to stick around at Manure?

As long as he wants and as long as he is successful. Envious of having such a great manager.

Great managers are the ones that are able to go elsewhere and do the same.

Machini is greater than Fergie, heck even Ruud Gullit and Franco Zola did a lot more

Arent Bilbao essentially all Basque, so even more locally focussed.

Its a problem for them as they have limited tallent to choose from in the transfer market.

No owner is going to risk loosing the EPL TV money for the sake of an all English team, or even an all British one. Thats modern footy sadly.

Again ....I'll like to see Fergie to repeat that elsewhere, and until he does that, he isn't great. People like Wenger have gone on to prove they can do the same elsewhere

Forgive me if I point out he was hired at Utd thanks to his exploits in the league and Europe at Aberdeen.

Why would he move? There is no pressure on him to move on, he has nothing to prove, his record in Europe and the Premiership is second to none and there are few clubs with as much money to spend and as much history and prestige in the game. The amazing thing to be honest is how many times he has successfully dismantled and remade that team, which if anything is a much harder job than leaving and starting with a clean slate elsewhere.

Your argument is staggeringly poor. Its like saying Busby was not a legend, or Shankly.

Aberdeen..those giants of Europe

I am sure if there was a list of top 5 managers in the world, Fergie won't be on there

You seem to underestimate how staggering it was that he broke the longstanding duopoly* of scottish football. That at a time when Scotland were off to the world cup and England werent.

*Thats a fancy word referring to Celtic and Rangers, thought I better save you googleing it.

Bollocks.....I know you are being a partizan here, but what do I care about Scotland? I know about the usual 2 horse race in Scotland more than you can imagine, and am talking way before the Erik Laarson (with dreds) era

Patizan? Im a liverpool fan and even I have to concede that SAF has been exceptional.

His achievement at an unfancied Aberdeen is at least as impressive as Mourino taking perennial Portuguese league winners Porto to a league and European double.

Anyway, you are entitled to your deluded opinion, Im done arguing.

Sorry, still waiting for you to get out of the "Partizan" remark, question mark or not. You *knew* I was being partizan, remember? but there is no connection at all to Scottish football here.

yes they have to be from the basque region or links to the region ie parents etc..be like West Ham only using players born in East London/Essex..or links to that region.

Poor Liverpool missing out on Dempsey at the 11th hour AND getting to keep Henderson

I'm also surprised to see NUFC getting through the day, so far, intact. Any news on the street to say otherwise?

It seems like we've survived intact. Excellent. Although Ryan Taylor is crocked for months.

We appear to have Bordeaux, Brugge and some team from Madeira in the Europa league. I know nothing about any of them. We're doomed.
