Glad EPL has started.

Big match tomorrow Arsenal V Liverpool.

Novacastrian, I thought Newcastle did well to retain all their key players during the transfer window.

Overall, I think Spurs, Man U and Man City benefited the best compared to the Arsenal and Liverpool.

BTW, How are you all ? Just thought I would pop in and say hello.:)

Personally I would argue against Guardiola at No 2 given the short period of time and no real history of recreating great sides but there are some great managers in the list... IMO Ferguson would almost certainly appear in the top 5 of any list of world managers he has won 48 trophies across 3 different clubs and has won world soccer manager of the year on at least 4 occasions. His break up of the dominance of the Celtic/Rangers stranglehold in Scotland was certainly one, if not, the greatest achievement. :D

Hello. Arse v Pool will be a draw.

We'll see whether Toon did well. But thanks for the thought.

Good, a decent performance from Spurs, against admittedly a rather poor team but it was away all the same. What was with Hoddle's barnet though?

Hopefully we kick on and win at home against QPR next week.

We go to Old Trafford the week after which will be an interesting test of the new look Spurs side.

I watched the United game yesterday and once again they have another good crop of youngsters coming through.

Well you did press on. And your Fantasy Vice-Captain scored a good goal. Although Cisse didn't. :(

Yes. But WTF, Cisse needs to get back on track. 5 whole games without a goal. Tut tut. But actually Ben Arfa should have taken it, he won the game for us. He's bloody brilliant.

Terry banned for 4 games and seems like a few weeks bling. Hmmmmmm.

Will be interesting to see details of the judgement if that comes out.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

I suppose everyone suspected he was guilty but there was insufficient evidence to prove it in court then, somehow, the FA has managed to sidestep double jeopardy.

What a waste of money :frown: The FA should have arranged this judgement in the first place and made that the end of the matter.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

bloody shambles

It's clear the bloke isn't a racist - he just said something which could be construed as racist in the heat of a the moment during a particularly heated football game.

Some bloke see this on TV, decides that he doesn't like JT and that he should make his life difficult and makes a complaint. the uk media jump on it so the CPS and FA decide that given that how PC british society is these days they can't be allowed to let something so high profile go and then spend millions of pounds and hundreds of hours to find the guy not guilty / guilty.

absolutely shocking - just imagine what good that money and time could have done for the game in spending it towards that something that does matter.

I am no fan of JT - I think he is a class a bell end but this was absolutely ridiculous.

Those jumped up idiots in suits at the FA who fear the media so much that they do what they think it wants. Given that the majority of sports are either plastic Liverpool / Man Utd fans or support London clubs, none of them are particularly keen on the nouveau rich Chelsea so like to slate them whenever they want.

I don't think that Capello telling them they were idiots about the whole thing helped either so they were determined to make someone pay after he left before the Euro's. They ended up with egg on their faces and they now feel a bit better about themselves.

in the big scheme of things this whole thing has been an absolute joke.

He's naffing racist and he's a ****. Nobody in their right mind would say such stuff. He should be banned from football. End of.

typical anti-chelsea sheep and part of the reason for this stupid problem. bet you are loving the witch hunt.

the general public don't know the bloke but jump on the bandwagon while everyone that does know him and has worked with him have stated he isn't - he just said something that was deemed as racist on the pitch after being provoked by abuse from someone.

read between the lines.

the criminal court finds him not guilty while the FA do so everyone say's he's guilty.

baaaaaaaaa.......

Typical Chelsea fan and part of the reason racism exists in football. Just because he's 'provoked' it shouldn't mean his default response is a verbal racist attack.

Read between the lines.

The judge in court was pretty clear in his summing up that he believed Terry was guilty but the prosecution had not been able to prove it beyond reasonable doubt. The FA only had to judge on the balance of probability so much easier to find him guilty.

Big game tomorrow.

I didn't watch the game myself but it sounds like a wonderful first half for Spurs and an almost equally wonderful second half for that other lot.

Almost. Luckily. Have one for me.

Man City 1 (due to an extremely soft penalty decision), Dortmund 1.

Oh dear. We might end up in the same group of the other thing soon.

Toon 3-0 Bordeaux. Tres bien ca. Even if there are as many Francophones in our squad as theirs.

The first goal, Cabaye to Obertan to Shola was perhaps even better than Pepisse Cisse's killer third, (which was likely a teensy bit offside).

Do I dare look forward to Sunday?
