A well deserved win. Should have been by a lot more though. We're the number one team in North London and will be for a long time. We now just need to build a decent stadium as we have over 30,000 on the paid season ticket list.

They were astonished when I pointed out to them that Andy Townsend did in fact play the game at one stage. |

Anyway if Liverpool get their way the Premier League is only going to last one more TV agreement. |

Who else would use such a dopey acronym? We just say the Premier League or the Premiership, it stands to reason we don' t need to qualify it by mentioning the country its played in as we are English. It sort of like Chinese people going out for a meal, they're not going to go "lets go and get some Chinese" are they?
Although when we lived in Vancouver we had a Japanese kid staying with us for 3 weeks - he spent the whole time going to Japanese restaurants. |

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Can't complain about the result to day. The lads did well to come from behind twice against very decent side.
Still unbeaten, still in fourth place. It's all downhill from here. |

All in all probably a fair result although we were rather naive in the last 20 mins and should have held on for the win.
The worry is Ledley King. When we finished 4th in 2010 we got a reasonable percentage of league games out of him. I was hoping for similar this term..... We really need Gallas back now. I'm not a big fan of Dawson, Bassong or Kaboul- they all seem to need that more experienced head next to them. |

I agree though that Ameobi isn't quite up to the premiership in a starting role. This is prolly a classic hex but Wigan in Toon, Blackburn & Stoke away followed by Everton at home is all looking doable. Then of course three weeks with visits to both Manchester clubs and then Chelsea at home will be a very different challenge. I'm not daft enough to expect much from those games. |

I'm not daft enough to expect much from those games. Craig Forest think's Newcastle are good for the top half. I think so too. Pardew has done a resonable job despite the controversial circumstances that he entered the position. |

There is also the impact those fixtures could potentially have on the confidence of the squad going into the games after.

From there a top half would be probable and the top 6 achievable. Of course they'll probably lose 7 in a row from here on: normal service resumed and all that. |

I agree with all three points you make. But suppose (just suppose) they win both home games and scrape 2 draws away. They have 26 points from 12 games going in to the trifecta of gloom. That's over half of target one (40 points for survival) in less than a third of the season. Anything from those 3 would be a triumph, but e.g. a draw in one of the 2 Manc matches and a jammy win over Chelsea would give 30 points out of 15 games.

Looks like some owners didn't factor the risk of relegation into their purchase price.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...elegation.html If they want to own a club that can't be relegated they are welcome to sell up and go to north america. |

Let's hope the government approves licenses and this restore's some power to the Football Association. They need to stop these stupid Yank ideas once and for all. |

It was a good game against Spurs last weekend. I reckon Newcastle will be safe this year. They have a good defence and a decent striker upfront. |

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
damn, I cost the team 2 points today, made a mistake with the time (in the middle of moving so not thinking straight), so missed 60 minutes of the game.
By the time I started watching we were 2-0 up against Wolves and looking at our first Prem away win. 2-2, I can't help thinking if I missed the whole game we would have won!! :frown: |
