This is because I've forgotten which team you support. Surely not Bristol, although would explain the mirth.

But to digress: I was rather pleased with the second half today.

I hear Joey's been nominated for a Best Actor at the Oscars! :p

Nolan should have got a card for what he did to our keeper just after the first Newcastle penalty. Well done Newcastle for not giving up though.

Most generous of you. Has anyone else taken 3 points off you lot this season?

I am feeling temporarily rather smug having watched our guys beat Chelsea and watch a rather forlorn 50 mill figure get substituted.

He will make a great player for them but glad he didn't need to celebrate today.

Not that I have anything good to say about Mike Ashley, but I read some comments from John Henry and Kenny Dalgliesh stating that the deal with Abromovich was Torres for whatever Carroll cost them plus 15 million.

How stupid is that? Liverpool could keep upping their offer knowing that Chelsite would pay. Silly bastards.

West Brom (home game) in September
Chelski (away) in October
Newcastle (home) in November
Tottenham (home) in November
Manchester United (away) in December

ManUre have drawn 9, lost 1 (against Wolves on Saturday)
We've drawn 5, lost 5
Man City have drawn 7, lost 5
Chelski have drawn 5, lost 7
Spuds have drawn 8, lost 5 and
Liverpool have drawn 5, lost 10.

I think we're doing well but have been lucky that Utd have drawn so many games so far this season. Next weekend sees the following games;

Man Utd v Man City
Arsenal v Wolves
Liverpool v Wigan
Sunderland v Tottenham
Fulham v Chelsea.

The table afterwards could be very interesting, and Arsenal have to win whatever else happens.

Ah yes. Of course I meant 4 points. I can't get used to the modern game. :)

Of the above, we've only played you and Chelski twice so far this season, and you're the only 4-point team.

Still a proponent of the 5 forwards, 3 midfielders and 2 defenders and backpasses can be picked up by the keeper?

Gimme a break. It was a typo.

I think BTW that these "formations" are really rather overblown. I'm a total football proponent myself.

I was serious about wingers. Never hear of them anymore. Steve Highway was the last one I heard of Liverpool having.

They're called left or right sided midfield players now. Same shit different bucket. They're supposed to link up a bit more closely with the left and right back. Well, duh!

You mean full back or wing back ;)

Great weekend of Premiership football with lots of surprises which rather annoyingly pushed me down the fantasy footy league.

It's no surprise Berbatov has stopped scoring as I made him captain two weeks ago. Every time he misses a chance I throw something at the TV.

I bet you're hitting the target more than Berbatov!:thumbsup:

Don't know about Liverpool but players that spring to mind generally as modern wingers are Wright Philips, Ashley Young, Adam Johnson, Arron Lennon. Maybe they don't stand on the touchline waiting for the ball but they're pretty close to being a winger/inside forward.

John Barnes?

Wayne Routledge (is he still at Newcastle?) is an out and out winger.

He's back at QPR. I can't immediately recall if it's a loan or whether the Toon sold him... hang on I'll check. It's a loan for the season.

That makes sense. He does seem to have been through a lot of clubs in a short career. He seems talented enough so maybe there is something else we don't know about.

He was at Spurs for a while but didn't make much of an impact. Although the same could be said for Taarabt but he's been a belter at QPR.

I know. And Best took a knock on Saturday too. I read a blog somewhere which suggested Toon have been in talks with New York about a loan deal for Thierry Henri. Presumably the blogger is hallucinating but you never know...

There's also talk about an out-of-contract Brazilan called Ewerthon, who apparently is half decent and "only" 29. I've googled him and he might be worth a look.

Edit: He scored 28 goals for Real Zaragoza only 2 seasons ago. Not bad at all. His agent is quoted as saying he'd love to play for Newcastle. Watch this space.

More rumours... Jeremie Aliadiere? Jesus that's scraping the barrel, but we need bodies even if its just on the bench.

Aliadiere could have been a decent player for us but his off-field antics made sure he didn't stay a Gunner for long enough.

Wow, a player who was released by us (Swansea) for not being good enough.

I see some Toon fans are looking forward to seeing Kuqi's swan dive, considering he has to score to do that, they may not ever see it.

One of the blogs I read headlined the report of his acquisition with "Kuqi Coup".

Irony is alive and well on Tyneside.

Spurs took the morale high ground in that game as well as win it out right fair and square.

I hope Corluka is not out for too long.

Crouchy and "the bare bones" were magnificent yesterday.

It was a great game for Spurs. I thought Big Joe showed a lot of restraint while the Italians demonstrated their famed sportsmanship throughout the game.
