LOL...I found Kieron Dyers omission harder to justify.

Say what you like about Shearers personality, but he was a hell of a player? I dont think there were too many center backs who looked forward to playing him in his day.

Does the fact that Souness used to kick the crap out of people make him less of a great player...He just operated within the framework of the rules as they were applied at that time. Unfare to judge by "modern" standards, the gamesmanship is just part of playing the game. Doesnt detract from his increadible ruthlessness in front of goal, and fact that he used to take his fare share from the center backs too.

And what he ^^^^ said. "EEGAN!!!" I actually missed the match but hear all was incredibly good.

There is something about having local, patriotic leadership which rouses the passion in sport.

Exactly. When he played for NUFC in his latter days he seemed to have too much influence with the Newcastle coach of the day...in other words, if you bench me, you're history.

Ah well. I of course was simply hoping that ManUre would be more motivated to lay a tonking on 'Ull.

"Let's spare a thought for Wigan - they do not deserve to lose tonight. But United just do not know when they are beaten, and someone always pops up when they need inspiration." BBC sport.

i think the above is a fair comment, just happy to win at the moment. lot of upset at the club i think with tevez and ronaldo.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Tevez is overrated and too expensive...........considering your owners are up sh*t creek without a paddle with their finances

Ronaldo is a cock, although a very good playe, but will be off to Real in the summer

i would not say tevez is overrated, but i would agree that he is way too expensive for what he is. i would definitely agree with the ronaldo summation, and think eons ago on here i posted something to the effect that if he goes he goes and we should get on with it. the antics of late, and in this match enforces that somewhat. great player, we will sorely miss him, but some times its time to go, see beckham, van n, yip yap.

as to the finances, yes, but then i think that applies to a few clubs. my main worry is that if/when ronaldo goes, they bank whatever they get for him to ease the debt, instead of replacing him. i hope this is not a viable solution, but can't help thinking someone at utd has considered this.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Just as well I never got my hopes up;)

For my money both Tevez and Ronaldo will still be there next year.

Ronaldo realises Real are pants and he wont win anything there, he has enough money to last a life time and he is getting cold feet about going to a losing team, even one with better weather.

Tevez is too expensive at the moment, but the longer Man U wait, the lower his price to Man U will become. Man U are just playing hardball because they know no one else is going to offer 25-30M for him....Remember they have already paid 10M deposit.

Still, i wouldnt mind seeing Tevez at Liverpool, if the price was right.

LOL. Considerably more useless. Teves would offer an additional creative option that liverpool sometimes need, although Beneyoun has been a little underused this year in my opinion as a creative option.. I dont think its likely to happen in any event.

I don't think Tevez is overrated either, but I certainly wouldn't pay 30 mil for him. He's still officially owned by his agent, so I'm not sure whether the 30 mil actually buys his registration as well, or just a contract for X number of years.

I think Ronaldo will be off. I'm surprised SAF hasn't got rid of him already, as Beckham went for less problems.
