Today's game - well, to be honest, 2nd half - Chelsea v. Man City, was a real piece of entertainment.

But much of what else I've seen this season has been a case of 'more afraid to lose than trying to win'.

Leagues are usually pretty cyclical, and I think the EPL may just be on the down slope of a peak. Money spoils everything, eventually.

I must admit I don't follow the 'Championship' much but I do realize that the Barcodes are likely to be back in the EPL. Unfortunately, my mind is clouded by thugs like Barton, twunts like Bramble and dull as dishwater Peter Pan figures like Shearer.

32nd major trophy for Fergsuon.........unbelievable.......and today they made 8 changes from their last league game.........

........if Rooney keeps playing like this then England may do well in South Africa......but I get the sense it can't carry on for more 4 months.

I was disappointed for Owen:(

Not a classic game - but a great win!

First of 3 trophies this year!:thumbup::thumbup:

Evra couldn't even wait to kiss the trophy before he hoisted it! LOL

yeah, that was too bad about Owen. Can anybody remind me what Rat Face brings to the team to make him the captain....he has got to be the only captain in the Premier League who does not start important games when available.

Continuity, loyalty, memories of past glory, been there done that attitude.

He does manage to spoil that picture when he gets all bitter and twisted though.

Exactly on the latter point...his vitroilic hatred of LFC is tiresome very quickly and his toady like reverence for SAF is far too sycophantic.

Toon 1- 0 Forest!

13 points clear of 3rd, with a game in hand and only six/seven games to play.

Not even the Toon can blow this now.

It's a shame Liverpool are going to miss out on the Champion's League (and possibly any European football at all) next season though. :p

Here are their PL fixtures for the rest of the season compared to their rivals for CL/Europa Cup places. Aston Villa and Everton appear to have the easiest run-in's, and Spurs seem to have the hardest as they have to play Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd before the end of the season, though Man City also have to play two of these teams as well.

Tottenham
April
3 Sunderland (A)
10 Arsenal (H)
17 Chelsea (H)
24 Man Utd (A)

May
1 Bolton (H)
9 Burnley (A)

Man City
April
3 Burnley (A)
10 Birmingham (H)
17 Man Utd (H)
24 Arsenal (A)

May
1 Aston Villa (H)
9 West Ham (A)

Liverpool
April
3 Birmingham (A)
10 Fulham (H)
17 West Ham (H)
24 Burnley (A)

May
1 Chelsea (H)
9 Hull (A)

Aston Villa
April
3 Bolton (A)
10 Everton (H)
17 Portsmouth (A)
24 Birmingham (H)

May
1 Man City (A)
9 Blackburn (H)

Everton
April
3 West Ham (H)
10 Aston Villa (A)
17 Blackburn (A)

May
1 Stoke (A)
9 Portsmouth (H)

The most exciting Premiership run in for a long time. 3 teams playing for the title and 4 teams playing for 4th spot.

Curious to know why you included Everton's fixtures?

I hope Liverpool don't get 4th but it does look like they have the easiest run in.

Come on you Spurs!!!

I included Everton because It's still mathematically possible for them to qualify for the Europa League. Highly unlikely unless at least two teams above them lose all of their remaining games, but still possible.

Fair enough.

I will always wonder what David Moyes would have achieved if he had been given a decent transfer budget.

i worry now for utd, dismal display against a super munich, who out fought, out played and out tried us all game. some of their individual play was fantastic and at times i did not think we were going to come away at 4-1 let alone 2-1, then rooney goes off with a twisted ankle apparently. wonderful. i can see chelsea on sat being a nightmare, then going out to munich next week.
fingers crossed but berbatov and carrick need to show a bit of aggression and commitment.

nani had an ok game, and certainly has improved dramatically of late. park i am still not convinced about, but everytime i express my concern he seems to score lately so what do i know.
hoepfully he will start with valencia next game, he deserves a proper run out.

not on setanta no, but then i flicked to TSN for the highlights of lyon and they gave a quick update at the end saying he twisted his ankle. must have gone over on it right at the end.

i know, i have a feeling knowing fergies priorities that he will rest him if in any doubt so he is fit for the return leg. which means berbatov starts on his own up front. which means chelsea win.

Probably not that simple. I expect Berbatov will play his only decent game of the season and you end up winning.

Yes England's slim chance is fast diminishing.

I always thought England had a solid defence to fall on but with the Terry- Bridge affair I have lost confidence. I knew Terry was a nob- but losing Wayne Bridge leaves us even more exposed at a weak position.

Gerrard has not been playing well. I hope the term "Class is permanent and form is temporary" is true- because England need him.

I also really hope Aaron Lennon makes the World Cup. A fully fit Aaron Lennon can give problems too any left back in the world.

And fingers are definately crossed for Rooney. He has been magnificent at Manchester United this season.

I cannot forgive him for fluffing that one chance we had in the Portugal game in last World Cup.

As for prospects this year, I agree they are extremely slim.

No proper keeper.

Terry is slow (in every sense), Rio very possibly unfit, Johnson can't defend, Cashley fragile (will be), Barry goes missing in the really big games - very limited, why do you think it took him so long to make the grade, Gerrard out of form, Lamps doesn't really function outside a Chelsea line-up, nobody available who is good enough to help out Rooney, Hargreaves out best player unlikely to be even in the running for selection. Walcott, Baines, Lescott, Upson, Heskey, SWP all unproven or inadequate. Who have I missed out?

Steve Harper, Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor (jaw willing), Wayne Routledge and (if Walcott could go last time, why not?) Nile Ranger.

HOWAY THE LADS!!

J. Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Hargreaves (hope he gets fit), Walcott, Lennon, A. Young
Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Bent, Agbondlahor (sp?)
