No, we haven't lost yet. On the other hand the kick-off isn't for another 35 minutes, so it's hard to feel complacent. :(

Yes, Viduka played for Boro and for Leeds before that. He's shit.

On edit: I've just looked at the team sheets and apparently {{{l'il mickey}}} and Shola Ameobi could both be on the bench. Even better news is that Wigan have that lovable Toon reject Titus ("whad'aveIdunnow?") Bramble at centre back. With him on the pitch there's always a chance for the opposition.

Would you have preferred it if he hadn't scored against Derby then?

Hi there Novo,

Just found this thread otherwise could have offered you some back up against the glory hunters who have been criticising our great (yet underachieving) establishment!!!

Who knows now that QPR have some dosh our Man U and Arsenal fans might change their allegiance!!;)

Being a season ticket holder I was at the Derby game and yes the Big Felas tactics left an incredible amount to be desired - it's as if he knows something we humble wage paying massive do not - like Martins secret desire to be a right winger and paying £6m for Spains best defensive prospect and leaving him on the bench is a good idea:confused:

Never mind here's hoping we can put one over Brucie today.

regards,

erinbrooke:thumbup:

Mixed news at HT eh?

Wigan 0-0 Toon (could be worse)
S**erland 0-3 ManUre (couldn't be better).

Stay tuned to this thread.

Just been looking at the early results...

Chelsea 4-4 Villa with Villa playing 10 men for the 2nd half. One for the highlight reels, eh? Was anyone watching it live?

Well it kills me to say it, as i am one of the minority hoping to give the big fella time to get it right, but it doesn't look like he's going to do hiomself any favours.
:frown:
He certainly cannot blame his squad of players as six of the starting 11 on Sunday were his signings (not quite sure of todays line-up).

It'll be interseting to see how much money Mr Ashley allows him next month, if any at all!!!

I'm still hopefull and would love to see him turn it around but his fundamental tactical errors are quite laughable.

Jose Mourinho's black and white army - just doesnt have the same ring to it!

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

When Allardyce was at Bolton, they only played one way and it wasn't good football. As I see it he's turning Newcastle into more of the same. I do see some of the players playing better than last season but maybe thats because they want to look good in the transfer window.

At least Newcastle aren't in the bottom 5 at present.

Not yet!!

there is a lot of games over the xmas period and a lot of league table moving about can occur- Sam needs to sort it out before this weekends game or all the public shows of loyalty from our owner could soon turn sour.

You, my friend, are needlessly abrasive. Get back to your prawn sandwiches before Keano comes along to bite your ass.

Wahey, fighty-fight time. :)

So you beat the mackems. Well done. Even I appreciate that. Thanks.

There is indeed always next year. This is the difference between us. With you buggers it's always last year. And when did you last win the Intertoto?

No we don't Novo, but we're still looking better than Chelski and Liverpool, aren't we. We're also higher in the table than any of the teams north of the M62.......

True enough. Given the current state of affairs north of the M62, I'm a closet gooner fan too. Anybody but Cheshite or Manure.

Hmmm. Do you spot the pattern here?

Toon Boxing Day away results:

2007/08 Wigan (a) lost 0-1
2006/07 Bolton (a) lost 1-2
2005/06 Liverpool (a) lost 0-2
2004/05 Blackburn (a) drew 2-2
2003/04 Leicester (a) drew 1-1
2002/03 Bolton (a) lost 3-4
1997/98 Derby (a) lost 0-1
1996/97 Blackburn (a) lost 0-1
1995/96 Man U (a) lost 0-2 (played on 27th)
1994/95 Leeds (a) drew 0-0
1993/94 Chelsea (a) lost 0-1 (played on 28th)
1989/90 Stoke (a) lost 1-2
1988/89 Sheff Weds (a) won 2-1

You're sure?

"Some of our players have not lived up to their reputation.
The front players have not held the ball up and the creative players have not created. Today the appetite to beat the opposition was not there. I'm not happy to have my future in their hands."

BSA quoted on nufc.com today.

Hmm? Rat. Ship. Sinking.

Two patterns I can see. All away games and all dropped points except for Sheff Weds (and didn't they get relegated that season?) How did you guys do in the seasons you haven't listed, or were you not in the league during those seasons?

This list is from nufc.com (an unofficial, but to my mind excellent site, quite different from nufc.co.uk). I think they just stopped at the last win to make a point. 18 years ago. As to the missing years, we were at home then.

Thanks, but too late.

That was the worst wrong call by a linesman I have ever seen. Pizarro was offside by at least 2 yards.

Robbed. :mad::mad:

Not the worst call I've ever seen though. As much as I dislike to admit it, Tottenham scored a perfectly good goal at Old Trafford three years ago that only the referee and linesman didn't spot. Tottenham Non-goal at Old Trafford

For gawd's sake Hook, how many other people have dropped dead today? What makes it special just because he played footy? I know he was young (35) but shit happens.

Well, that's it for 2007: Joey Barton in jail, Alan Smith claiming to have amnesia (who can blame him?). BSA being assured by management that he's secure in the job (yeah, riiight). Half the squad off to play in the Africa Nations Cup next week. Same old same old.

Roll on 2008 and glory! Haway the lads!

Thought I'd weigh in having been a stranded Pompey fan in Calgary. LOVE seeing the odd footy shirt wading around the city, there's not too many that's for sure.

The local Ship & Anchor was blatantly run by ex-pats as they had a scarf from nearly EVERY current or past Premier League footy club around the bar and EVERY British footy league printed out and updated weekly for all to look at, with stats and results. They screened televised games, opening as early as the law would allow. Of course there'd still be hockey on the telly for the rest of the day :) Also the first and only pub I've EVER seen with a big yellow "TAXI CAM" in the corner so you could keep an eye on the taxi rank outside! Ingenious!

I really feel for BSA as I LOVE the Newcastle fans, long overdue some success that's for sure. On the other hand, having long watched Pompey languish at the foot of Div 1 for many a year with crowds of 8,000 I am absolutely relishing this season.

'Arry Redknapp, best thing to ever happen to us. I'll enjoy it while I can!
