Two snowmen in a field, one turned to the other and said "I don't know about you but I can smell carrots."!

Superstore had some packs of beef tenderloin steaks for 50% and the BB date was still 3 days away.

It worked out to about $8 lb so they found their way into my cart. Beautiful. With steak that good, you don't need much else so just had spud wedges.

I've heard walleye is an amazing fresh water fish but what is faux tartar sauce?

Mayo, green pickle relish, dash of lime or lemon; combine.

It is good, and the fillet I cooked but didn't eat last night made some delicious fish salad sandwiches for lunch (still a bit of that left). From the size of the fillets I judge the fish was about 2 3/4 lbs, which is a nice gift and a perfect eating size. Supper was roast chicken with potatoes and carrots and sprouts, butter and salt and pepper all over.

For anyone missing a Marks & Spencer Christmas cake I can recommend the Royal British Fruitcake (marzipan and icing) sold by Sobeys and made in UK

It's the usual brick one rather than a nice round one but it's really very good. It was $12 before xmas but my store had a bunch of them for $4 today.

I regret only buying two. Just had a slice with a rare cup of tea.

Made a nice pot of "whatever's around" soup... onion, garlic, chicken stock, loads of kale, green beans, peas, lentils and mixed beans.

Delicious and healthy,

I splurged and forgot about the food restrictions for one night...... it was wonderful :D

Chicken Dhansak, pilau rice, naan. Absolutely bloody marvellous - especially when you haven't had one in 3 years!
