Help what exactly? It might well be the stupidest thing that the House of Saud has done for a while, perhaps even stupider than when they created Al Qaeda and when that was a **** up, IS.

Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
I wonder if the continuing threat from IS/AQ etc will finally wake up the West about the hypocrisy of supporting a state like Saudi. Obviously, it's always been a case of turning a blind eye because of economic interests, but as awareness of Saudi brutality builds, perhaps Western opinion will start to shift.

2016 is looking very unstable/unpredictable. Of course, nobody over-egged this pudding quite as effectively as Churchill, criticising Government indecision in 1936: "So they go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all-powerful to be impotent." |
Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
This is quite big news in the German newspapers. I don't understand why the Germans are so surprised. What do you expect when you allow several hundred thousand young single men to move into your towns and cities many of whom haven't been given easy access to alcohol before, aren't used to western women's dress and have no respect for them.
https://www.rt.com/news/327927-colog...xual-assaults/ New Year’s celebrations in the western German city of Cologne escalated into chaos with a series of sexual assaults, including a rape, being blamed on an uncontrolled crowd of intoxicated men of “Arab or North African†origin. The mass attack on women that happened “in the middle of the city†around Cologne Central Station on New Year's Eve was “an intolerable situation,†Chief of Police Wolfgang Albers told reporters. So far the authorities in Cologne have received 60 complaints. The crowd of around 1,000 men attacked people in the city centre in what Albers described as a “crime of a whole new dimension.†|

I believe the Spanish have similar problems with uncontrolled crowds of men (and women) of "British" origin. The mayor of Magaluf often complains that it is an "intolerable situation".

Pretty good example pf 'whataboutery' there  no real relevance to the thread, oh and as an aside most of the sexual activity in Magalouf is consensual which I guess is not the case in Cologne

Not really. Whataboutery is more about saying "someone else" is as bad or worse. As in "look at what (name of football club) fans did yesterday." And then someone responding defensively "Yes but what about (other club) fans last week. Shard's comment was more along the lines of casting the first stone and was the opposite of defensive. And humorous too. |

I chuckled and attempted to karma it. I assume paw's German reference is to some equivalent of Trump as these Arab rapists seems awfully like those Mexican ones.
eg.. chav/gypo/paddy/scouse/pikey one might say that all those down trodden job stealing eastern Europeans are quite looking forward to going up a step on the social ladder just above those benefit stealing housing grabbing burka wearing Syrians ;) |
