I'm sure that you, being in Alberta a bit south of Calgary, can put BristolUK in touch with the appropriate authorities in Moncton. I suppose you think he's an incompetent fool for suggesting that he might be willing to help out.
BristolUK was recently indicating that he didn't have a tenant for a period of time. Once again, I believe your comments say more about you than they do about me. |

Can't afford to do it for nothing but would certainly reduce the rent and consider waiving the deposit for someone supported by the authorities.
I suspect, however, that with current vacancy rates and cheaper places available, those would be the places targeted. |

I didn't suggest that you offered it for free. I thought that it may be a solution to the posts you made recently regarding your lack of tenant(s).
Nevertheless it was a good suggestion which I'm just waiting to hear back from. |

I'm not sure why you chose to make such a comment.

It now turns out that I'm in a position to help out as well. Just today, I have confirmation of agreement for sale on a property in Newcastle. I also have a rental contract on where we're living now which runs until the end of August 2016, but since we won't need it, I'm going to sublet it (for free) to the first refugee Newcastle City Council can find. |

You're back.
I guess you were upset that no one nominated you for "Most Missed Poster". I can't think why? |

Wish I had known that you had a rental property in Newcastle. As you know, I have strong connections with Newcastle, Northumberland and the N.E. in general. Originally, when I came in 1957 , I never intended to stay here forever and hoped that when I retired I would be able to return.
Sorry for hijacking this thread. I would certainly consider you as a refugee from Canada if that's what you're getting at. |
Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
I'm not sure myself exactly what I am saying. One thing certainly , I would not want to be considered someone who needed a 'freebie'. I have always paid my own way and intend to do so in the future.
I think there is a lot of nostalgia involved and perhaps being able to rent an affordable place to live in the area where I used to live even for a short time appealed to me. It would be incredibly difficult for me to return to the UK permanently, at my age. I am only allowed to stay in the UK for 6 months , at most. I would have to get a new passport; I do still have my original , issued in 1957, but I believe I would have to start from 'scratch'. Also I do realise that I would not be eligible for any benefits at all, nor would I expect it.I have been away too long. I just thought a short term rental in the area I used to know would be a great experience. To all others, do not wait too long if you wish to return |
