Funny isn’t it? Took hubby nearly 15 years to accept that it if didn’t pay attention to his body that diabetes would eventually kill him.
Recently he has been attending a clinic which is full of the living dead. Something made him realize that he would be one of them quite soon if he didn’t start sorting his blood sugars out. In the meantime he has lost a toe and feet are rather deformed...but he’s alive 🎊🎉

Hope the results are good ones - well done for at least going and getting them done!
That doesn't sound good. Do please get checked out, something definitely isn't right! Could you be hypoglycemic?
They have a nifty machine now that takes your blood pressure 3-6 times and they average it out.

At the moment his sugars go too low but he’s on a trial for novartis so they’re keeping a very close eye on him.
Men! Can’t live with them, can’t live without them!

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Especially with MS, Canada has the highest incident rate at 290 cases per 100,000 people.
The US is lower at 110-140 cases per 100,000 above the 37th parallel, and 57-78 cases per 100,000 below the 37th parallel.
I find I get more bacterial lung infections in Canada vs when I lived in the US, but could be the fact I am older here vs there so not as young and healthy...
I find I get dizzy often when standing up, vision goes for a second or 2 and I have to hold a wall or something to balance. Doctors can't find no medical problem and doing a search seems somewhat common, but apparently those who experience such symptoms when standing are higher risk of heart failure later in life, but I figure my heart is going to kill me, killed just about every male in the family thus far.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Canada annoys me with how much things cost.
I did some math and our rent in 2018 is 305% higher vs 5 years ago.
Income is higher but only 24% higher.
No woner qol is so poor. So frustrating.

Germaine Greer has been in the news a lot lately. Does anyone remember the Gerry Anderson puppet series Terrahawks?

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opin...re-homeowners/
Globe and Mail opinion piece. A couple of key points from it.
"Today, it takes a person in Vancouver, between the ages of 24-34, 27 years to save for a 20-per-cent down payment on a home. Forty years ago, it took five years. Kids aren’t earning as much, when adjusted for inflation, as the boomers."
"“We have an aging population, one that wants and needs more medical care, asking a younger generation to pay more for health care than they did,” Mr. Kershaw told me. “Meantime, house values are disproportionately helping an aging population, while that group is leaving larger bills to their kids’ generation. Is that the legacy they want to leave?”

That said, there are a bunch of things pushing high house prices in Vancouver, not just selfish Boomers. You've got artificially low interest rates, insane levels of lending, limited supply of land in the areas where people want to live, some of the only half-decent year-round weather in Canada, and masses of foreign money, much of which isn't even taxed.

The Boomers weren't called the 'Me Generation' for nothing.

I read that sales volumes had fallen, so presumably prices should soften a bit too.
