The M&M pre-cooked Tastee Burgers they didn't sell at the dance have to be used in a day or 2 or tossed. The patties get 2 min on high, the buns are still nice and fresh, a slice of Kraft processed cheese and dollop of kimchi tops it off. Best offer I've had for free so far today. If I take the full case of burgers home I'll have to cook some sort of chili and freeze it. The frankfurters have enough nitrite to last a week in the fridge unopened.

Hotdog Friday! There was a package of Harvest wieners in the fridge at work so I got some fresh bakery buns from the Independent and brought my little bbq, set it up on the back step and now there are calls to do this every Friday all summer.

Lunch is the only meal I eat these days. Although that's not strictly true, I sometimes have a small V8 juice around 10ish but that's really just a carrier for the Tabasco sauce.

I don't really eat prescribed meals, sometimes I forget to eat altogether and realize at 8pm that I had nothing to eat all day.

Today I had some bread sticks though, not really lunch, kind of a breakfast and lunch together.

Re: Lunchtime Choices

My lunches are disgustingly healthy these days.. low fat, low sodium, high in protein and veggies!

Either:
1 heaped dessert spoon of Hummus with yellow, red, orange bell pepper strips, some cherry tomatoes and 1/4 slice of whole grain bread
Or
2-3 oz of Salmon or Tuna, mashed with lemon juice and garlice puree, on 1/2 slice whole grain bread, with 1/8th of an avocado, sliced, some cherry tomatoes
Or
A mini salad made of lettuce, pepper strips, tomato, cold veggies (multi colour carrots and bush beans from the garden and spring onions from the garden), with 2-3 oz of cold cooked chicken or trout with a dressing of garlic puree, lemon juice and 1/2tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (or as a treat, 1 tsp of red chili 'jam' blended with lemon juice), and a 1/4 slice of whole grain bread on the side.

Some days I rebel and have 1oz of cheese and some unsalted rice crackers, then a low sodium set greek yoghurt or some strawberries, lol.

I'm working in Europe at the moment where they still have the notion of a proper lunchtime meal. I can't handle it, it's far too much. On the rare occasions that I join my Euro-colleagues for a lunchtime meal I spend all afternoon trying to stay awake.

I rarely have breakfast, have a very light lunch and have a big pig-out dinner,

My home made pea and ham soup with crusty bread. One of my favourites. I couldn't get smoked ham/bacon hocks in the UK and the unsmoked ones just don't taste the same - well they wouldn't, would they :o

No, but a falafel pita with shredded carrot and hummus plus chilli sauce would work.

A beer at lunchtime... that's a practice that virtually died out overnight in the UK sometime around 1995.

I love V8 veg juice. I could drink the entire bottle in one hit though.
