I made sandwiches from left over roast beef and salad, they looked really nice until my husband plonked a big spoonful of coleslaw on the top of his. The things that man makes a sandwich out of! He'll even made a sandwich out of a meat pie.

I'm fond of crisp sandwiches. I remember someone on a school trip with cake crumb sandwiches.

Sugar sandwiches were nice as a child. Nice and crunchy.

Then there's condensed milk sandwiches

That is another yes. We were given them at teatime when rations were very low, which was quite often.

Yep post WWll when food was still in short supply you would eat what ever you could get your hands on, another staple was Dripping sandwiches or dripping on toast the jelly at the bottom of the dripping pot was the best.

Oh yes - dripping on a big chunk of bread.. first the fat smeared over the bread (instead of butter or marg), then the jelly sliced or chopped on top, and a sprinkle of salt. I still did that every Christmas with the turkey drippings right up until last year (I remember being horrified that Canadians tend to throw that gorgeous stuff away)!
(the jelly, reduced, makes the best stock too - simmer, freeze in cubes)
:D

Good lad, the green stuff is excellent for you! :D Your body's bound to be a bit cranky at a radical change of diet, but I promise you it will settle down. In the meantime you can blame any farts on Charlee

I'm calling it a late lunch; guacamole and toast and a few drinks. I harboured 2 big avocados for 10 days after getting them from an unused band rider, until they were the right consistency, and threw it together this morning like it was second nature. A handful of chopped cilantro, diced red onion, garlic, jalapeno, tomato, juice of 1 lime, sea salt, and the avocados. Not too much or too little of anything. ;)

Fried or microwaved works. Doesn't need oil, it's more a case of searing it in the pan.

Just realised...you probably thought I meant spam and bacon as opposed to bacon spam.

No, I thought there was only one kind of Spam, and by frying it, it became Spam bacon. Aren't you a bit young to be having Spam, I thought it's only for senior seniors ?!

It's a very convenient way to have the taste of bacon. It's very different to ordinary plain old Spam.

I don't know how that is even possible. Not the absence of food, but the lack of awareness.

She'll be right, a good cuppa kills bacteria and stuff. I read it somewhere on the internet.

Do feel slightly  actually. Hopefully will pass. If not will have a Coke, and if that doesn't sort it a medicinal (!) whiskey. I didn't think anything could happen to a powder, especially with the preservatives and chemicals they throw in there.

I was only kidding you, the worse thing that could happen to a sealed packet of dry powder is it might taste a bit stale. Tell your belly to behave itself, it's perfectly safe.

I brought my lunch today, and of course it is egg salad sandwiches. I didn't like the eggs I bought on sale at No Frills; they're small and the shells are fragile, so the last four were hastily boiled, chilled, and shelled, chopped, and mixed with chopped lettuce, mayo, a little red onion, s&p, dash of paprika, and a tsp of curry powder.
