Fettuccine carbonara with Cremini mushrooms. I didn't have pancetta so just diced up a bunch of smoked bacon, no regrets.

Re: Lunchtime Choices
The chicken stew is not good, that bowl is going back. That's why the kitchen here has earned no stars from Michelin.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to get my friend to bring me a bahn mi sub after work. Can you get a take out via the Hungarian Club at all? Good nosh. |

....rats! Not even anything decent to wash it down with. It's got to be the way. Can you get a take out via the Hungarian Club at all? Good nosh. They just wheeled a lady into the next space who's on NPO so they can fix (I think a broken leg)(edit; sounds like a hip) in the morning. She's getting the same surgeon I had. It's a busy place |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
Beef vegetable soup (no salt, but edible), broccoli-raisin salad (not very good either, but I ate it (including all 3 raisins)). Chicken salad sandwich (not very good, but edible), dish of pineapple chunks had to go back; not sure where they sourced that but it was a mistake. One of the better lunches I've had here, which is just plain sad. At least I won't have to have food brought in tonight, no matter what's for supper. There are probably people who think it's pretty good, which makes me ask just where and what have they been eating?

It is the listing itself , not the fayre that I find a little odd. 80ml of this. 2 pieces of that |

Re: Lunchtime Choices
Great big fat bacon and egg sandwich with salsa, first thing I've cooked since getting home. It was really good.

It's not lunch because it's after 2am here, but I've just had a ham and pickle sandwich. On steroids at the moment and am bloody starving all the time  |

To me it's a jar of Branston's. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...d6f23e7349.jpg In Canada it's what I'd call a gherkin, pickled. |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
I had the rest of last night's plate I couldn't finish: Flatbread, butter, brie, Roquefort salami. Then for dessert a big piece of cake.

Hope you ate it all before Nutek got there. I love lemon.

Re: Lunchtime Choices
I treated myself to a super kaisendon at Moltan's roll and sake house. In my defence it was the first proper food I'd eaten since last Saturday.

Re: Lunchtime Choices
I had chicken tacos, and that almost always cheers me up. The rock-hard avocado my friend shopped for me 2 weeks ago was rotten, so no guacamole, so I had salsa fresca; the next best thing.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...64dd3c070d.jpg You can ripen unripe avocados in the oven (and apparently in the microwave) - I tried the oven method at Christmas and it does work! https://www.keyingredient.com/recipe...in-10-minutes/ |

Always a good choice. What type of fish? Cod? Pollock? Do you use white vinegar on your chips and tartar sauce on your fish? I use lemon first and homemade tartar sauce. |

I think "mate" was the most familiar term in use. Us southerners, eh? |

In my experience they put salt on first and then wash it to the bottom of the paper with the vinegar. I mean, what's the point? :frown: Vinegar first so the salt has something to stick to. |

Malt Vinegar on chips and perhaps a touch of lemon on the fish, never tartar sauce - can't stand the stuff! If having chips on their own then a sprinkle of malt vinegar, or perhaps some mayo to dip them in :D |
