Re: Local newspaper stories
In that Globe and Mail report it says
"The boat was spotted on Friday afternoon on the Nelson river near the town of Gillam where the search for the pair had been concentrated, the Globe and Mail reports. “It had gone through some rapids and had been significantly damaged,” a police inspector told the Globe. A water jug was found nearby."
If a water jug was found nearby then wouldn't that indicate that they may have survived the rapids?

Re: Local newspaper stories
Could be. That aside, I remembered something caretaker said about them making it difficult to be caught. So I thought maybe making good use of the boat and then setting it adrift - for example towards rapids that you are not going through - might send search teams on a wild goose chase.

Re: Local newspaper stories
Hopefully this search will bring some clues as to what has happened to the 2 suspects.

Re: Local newspaper stories
In addition to the boat RCMP also found some items directly linked to the 2 suspects although they did not release what those items were.

Re: Local newspaper stories
Well, they're certainly playing it coy. I suppose since anything linked to the suspects would be between 1 and 2 weeks old there isn't much point in moving a bunch of officers back up there to beat the bushes when they can use aircraft and drones to look for bodies, smoke, heat signatures, or more debris that may be out in the open.

Re: Local newspaper stories
RCMP believes the suspects are dead, bodies have been recovered and autopsy being performed to confirm identity.
I don't have a link, its live at a new conference currently on.
Located on the shoreline of Nelson River approx 8km from the burned vehicle per the RCMP Manitoba Twitter.

Re: Local newspaper stories
I just missed the live news conference.
edit; I just heard a report on MBC radio that the bodies were found this morning "in dense bush, near where personal items of theirs were recovered yesterday".

Re: Local newspaper stories
Sea to Sky gondola cable broke overnight.
Happened before opening so no injuries.

Re: Local newspaper stories
RCMP in Squamish say the cables appear to have been cut and treating it as a criminal investigation.
They have 30 gondola cabins in total, most of which fell to the ground, 6 in total were parked at either the base or summit station and were not damaged.
They are closed until further notice with no time line when they might reopen.

Re: Local newspaper stories
Two court reports in the paper today. Same prosecutor, same duty counsel and presumably same judge. Two reports of animal neglect and SPCA seizing animals.
The cat case - 184 cats seized, 110 euthanised. The others to shelters.
The dog case - 1 sick dog and euthanised.
The cat offender fined $500
The dog offender fined $1000 and on probation.

History of previous offences and injuries to the animals (for example, failing to care, when compared to deliberately harming) is likely to have an effect upon sentencing.
