They have been charged now with 1 count of 2nd degree murder, and wanted as suspects for the murder of the 2 tourists.

They've certainly covered a lot of ground. They were on security video in the hardware store in Meadow Lake Sask up by my friend's place, then a burned out vehicle was discovered on the Bird reserve on Fox Lake Cree Nation up in northeast Manitoba. That's almost to Hudson's Bay! I think they must have had a bunch of jerrycans to avoid being caught on camera at gas stations. This can't go on for long, and unless they've already altered their appearances and gotten to a city where they can get lost in the crowd I don't think they have much of a chance. There aren't many roads to block. Search from the air will be useless if they get off the road but they can't live in the bush and everybody and his dog are watching for them.

I didn't think it would take long to identify him once they ran the vin numbers on the burned Rav 4. Since he was an outdoorsman the killers have his gear plus whatever they lifted from the tourist's van. Kam's father said the boys fancy themselves as survivalists so they could be trying to make a go of it in the bush. If they know enough to cover up and hide from the search planes' infra-red cameras and can get far enough from the road, finding them could be tough. What they can't do (if they're in the bush) is move fast. There are so many trees and little lakes up there, when you fly over it you can't tell if it's green or blue. Unless they stole another vehicle that hasn't been missed yet they're still up there.

Correction to the above, it was Bryer's father, not Kam's, that made the statement about their survivalist practicing.

There was a former RCMP officer on CBC TV this morning who is very familiar with the Manitoba landscape in which they are believed to be. This officer contends this is very difficult terrain with mosquitoes and black flies in abundance. It is mainly muskeg with primitive road system, so moving a vehicle will be most difficult. She said if they’re not equipped to deal with such conditions they will be in serious trouble. Probably it’ll end with a massive rescue operation, costing multi thousands of dollars and putting the lives and well being of many rescuers at serious risk. Or, they could die there, which given what they’re accused of, might be a good thing.

Oh, I don't think there's much rescue work going on there; they're being hunted like deer. Until they are killed or captured the law will keep searching for them, but they can't move very fast because they have to expect an ambush everywhere they go. They can take cover when they hear aircraft or drones, but there's a chance the tracking dogs will pick up a scent. There's also a chance they got out on the road before the alarm was raised.

Poor kid.
2 year old wandered away from his mother at Atlanta airport, and climbed onto the bag belt, and went for a ride, once he reached the TSA security area, TSA agents retrieved the boy. The child suffered a hand injury.

The article has video released by the airport, appears he also went through the baggage imaging device.

I just watched the live RCMP update on the manhunt, and there's no real change.

Yes very lucky. Hands and feet can easily get stuck in these things.
Back in the late 90's before anyone cared and before TSA existed, we would ride down to the ramp on the bag belt, no imaging system or anything back then, it was a fun ride.

A First Nations person from Fox Lake said that the terrain up there is "like nowhere else in Canada"
But there are also trappers and hunters cabins and camps in there, so they may find somewhere to hide, and even some food, as it is tradition in the north to leave some canned food in a cabin for anyone to use if they need it.
The man whose murder they are charged with was a colleague of OH's, so it's hit fairly close to him. And another friend has just told OH that he was called in as a forensic dentist to identify the body .................. so even more of a shock to us.

Does the train go east/west from there?
Maybe they hopped a freight train and if they did could be anywhere.
Maybe they hopped a freight train and if they did could be anywhere.
In the winter time when all the trapping and hunting is happening there are even snowmobile trails to get around on, but right now, outside of local fishing and berry-picking spots I suspect it will be very hard going if not nearly impassible. Anything's possible; they could have stolen a boat and gone across the lake or they could be hiding in someone's attic. "like nowhere else in Canada" is a bit misleading since most of northern Manitoba is the same. The main exception in Gillam is that a road actually goes there and the train goes through there, both factors that might mean they're already gone. Everywhere else the lakes are the primary highways, along with the closest airstrip.
