Another article about something, boring don't you think, what is your view?

Now if I said that the real problem wAs the internal struggle within Islam, would you find me another journal or article. I can find those myself. I suppose what I ultimately would like to get from this is this, if you could write to someone that could have the vision and influence to prevent this from happening anymore, what or how would you advise them?

I notice you didn't immediately condem the rape that JamesM posted about earlier. You may as well have raped that woman yourself.

How does the elephant fit into this scenario?

That's a genuinely tricky one. As a convicted rapist, I don't believe he should have a "second chance" in the public sport of football. But, and it's a big but, the guy is adamant that it wasn't rape. Obviously the jury made a judgement on the facts that were presents, but rape cases where there is a degree of consent or alcohol are notoriously difficult to decide. He's done his time, and in theory he should admit his crime, but he doesn't, so in my view there remains some doubt. So on those shaky grounds, I can see some (not full) justification for giving him a second chance.

So what can we do about the pickle we find ourselves in?

I have some views that I could share immediately, but I'll leave this with you for starters, the WEST makes our countries very attractive to folk from the Middle East and North Africa, why don't we make it less attractive so that they sto coming? How could we do that......

Starters, legislation to ban halal meat, all animals to be slaughtered with the least stress on the animal, no face veils, stop building mosques, no Islamic schools, no Islamic laws..... Oh, it doesnt suit you? You need these things? Find another country to live in, this is our country and its not changing anymore.

Anymore anybody? Or do we wait for the blood bath?
these are my suggestions:

1. Stop pretending anyone who comes from a Muslim country, or family, or whatever necessarily wants to be Muslim. Protect and encourage those who actually wish to leave the community/faith.

2. Leave the rest alone unless they do bad shit. Make sure all children recieve an excellent education and are taught to think, reason etc, able to get jobs etc.

3. If they do bad shit, prosecute, just like anyone else.

The end.

It was wondering how obvious it needs to be before somebody notices it. It is now wondering if it is trying too hard and should go and stand somewhere else.

It ain't that simple. Given that all religions are predicated on superstition and irrational belief, it's only by dismantling the religion itself that these problems can be tackled. There is a humanism thread on one of the other BE forums, have a look at that.
