EXFATS WEIGH IN!
#586
Oh! Almost definately
If your anything like me and my lot you'll get here and be too busy to cook for the 1st two weeks, then you'll be in the habit of either going out for food or getting something delivered and then you'll get dead confused in the supermarkets and buy frozen pizzas or hamburger helpers and signing in to Exfats wondering why you've gained 20lbs in a week
It's a slippery slope this emigrating lark you know

Similar, I had all good intentions for when I arrived and we have been here 2mths now and I am sure I have put on a good few pounds. Few months before we emigrated I cancelled weight watchers and the gym, wanting to get all my standing orders cancelled, so its really been a slippery slope since then. Now when we go to the shops there's always something we spot that we want to try, especially desert type things that I would not of had in the UK.
Actually the supermarkets have a lovely range of fruit and veg and everything is laid out really nice, with water sprays keeping things fresh, you can even buy bags of chopped up cabbage carrot etc to make your own coleslaw, and the fish and meat counters have a really big range, so really there is no excuse for us to not eat healthy. I have not got my act together yet and after failing my driving test yesterday
a glass of wine or two (or bottle) has not helped. So positive thinking needed.......

Actually the price of wine is not too bad, I get a litre bottle for $14 so thats not bad at all, and its OK. Wine (Liquid sugar) is another of my downfalls, also MIL has got me brewing some for Christmas, we have two big containers bubbling away at moment, think they make about 30 bottles each.
I have actually cut the wine out (during week) and just have a few at weekend.....bottles that is.
( have to try and find a wine glass smiley)

You're going to the wrong Province then. Plenty of wine under $10 in Ontario. As to quality, ?????

Hey has anybody heard of this? http://www.nosdiet.com/
Sounds very good to me ..... and no credit card charges either!
I am continuing to lose slowly despite getting a bit bogged down on the exercise front last month.
I have also signed up for a pilot project called the "Coach Approach" which is being run by the YMCA in conjunction with the Calgary Health Region.
Basically I have to meet once a month with my "coach" and we have set goals and targets and discussed overcoming barriers to regular exercise. Then I get a further 6 months (so a year total) free open membership of the Y to continue the good work. It's more about getting fit, and developing the exercise habits, but if you want to set a specific weight loss as one goal that is fine.
I'll keep you posted how it goes. I reckon I am down a good dress size already, and have lost an inch off my bum since starting, so feeling good!

Hello fellow "exfatters"
Seems many are popping up after a bit of an abscence, so thought I'd join you
I've been going for two years come mid february next and am amazed that I have managed to keep 23lbs of my total of 36lbs off for all of that time. (Apparently only 5% of people maintain their weight loss for more than a year).
Anyway - I fell off the wagon for a while and bobbed up and down a bit, but lately decided to get back in the game as I was creeping up too much for my liking and with Christmas around the corner etc, thought I'd better get a handle on it again..... you know how it is
I am determined now to meet goal some time next year, hopefully before summer - but if I take a whole year I won't mind so long as I'm going in the right direction
So - here's to the next 30lbs (or maybe 40 depending how I feel about it when I get there)
Good luck to you all!

Welcome! You will have to cut down on the
though
Your weight loss and maintentance is fantastic - a gold star for you!
I have been doing the Curves Smart for a month now, my strength is up, my BMI down, my weight down 1.75lbs and inches the same. Been eating what I want though. After Crimbo (and after gaining back the 1.75lbs if not more) I will get back to a eating regime.
See you soon!
