Hiya!!
Im sure you alredy know this but just incase....I got off the phone to singapore airlines this afternoon, as i was querying baggage. Yes you can take 40kg, but not in one bag. the max the handlers are allowed to lift is 32kg, so it MUST be split over 2 cases. This could be a nightmare once at check in otherwise!!! hope this is help? Traceyxx

Re: March Applicants
Hi everyone, posted this on main site, also thought I'd put in here, I really don't know what to say - very down. Will think about where to go from here I suppose;
'After a long process [the same for all of you I'm sure] I passed the TRA assessment, waited a lot longer, did all the necessary and then heard we got our permanent visas.
Booked flights to validate/look around and then get in the post the results of my assessment of my qualification [needed as well as TRA] done through NOOSR. My qualification is not, in their opinion, up to the Australian mark! Now I am in the strange position of finding I have a permanent skilled visa but cannot actually practice my occupation over there! I cannot do anything else [anything that will enable us to manage anyway] and do not have the funds to be able to say I'll do further training. Well Australia, all I can say is THANK YOU!! we've now much less money and more grey hairs than when we started almost a year ago. How can they let people pass the TRA then, because they use other departments etc. fail later - this is totally out of order. Sorry but I need this rant and will be looking later to send further rants to any government offices I can!!
PS: Great to hear you're home Kat and on the mend.x

Oh Crap Lizzy, so sorry for you...
Only heard of one guy this happened to and it was the ARTC a fellow Sparkie...
Dont really know what to suggest apart from PMing George Lombard or a couple of the other guys maybe.. Did you have an agent? Got any advise from them.. Is it not possible to get a job in anything else while at TAFE or UNI getting the extra qualifications. Sorry cant be more percise cant remember what you do...
Dont let them defeat you, why dont you try ringing the DIAC i know it's not the right dept but they might be able to point you in the right direction, i'm sure they'll have come over this before....
Sorry,
S-j xxx (seems a shame to give up chick when you've put in so much of yourselves and cash)

lizz i'm really sorry for you love, but like said...you've come too far to give up now!!! Who's to say you can't do anything else!! Of course you can, don't be so low on yourself....
You've got the visa with the xtra help of those qualification/MODL points...does that mean you have to do that occupation for 2 years or something? If not well then bonus for you...is there anything you've always fancied giving a shot??

You're a child care coordinator arn't you?
What are they saying your qualifications are? not suitable for CCC or any childcare work?
do you mind me asking what qualifications you had assessed by NOOSR Kn****ds?
Don't worry though chic, there are other ways, without NOOSR, each state has different rules and once you are there i'm sure other options into childcare will open up

Re: March Applicants
Hi Guys
Hope you are all well and in a good mood as I am NOT. As you can guess we are still waiting on our visa.........
Just to cheer you all up and give you all a laugh, I will enlighten you all with my latest escapade.
Yesterday morning, just as I was on my way to the annex to check my emails all the power went in the house. Not a powercut, having established that after phoning the electric company. They advised me to check the electrical cupboard. (Me being blonde) asked what they were meaning, now don't laugh as I am the typical blonde who can't even change a plug. A nice young lad talked me through how to check the RCD (that's his words), so I spent the next 15 minutes, climbing up and down on a chair and flicking switches.
Finally traced it to one area after going round the house to find out what was working and what wasn't. It was in the annex where my computer and the router is and nothing was working.........
Fearing the worst and swearing like a trooper, I took it all apart, it was like cable city in there. Still couldn't get power and waiting on an electrician.
Today, some 20 minutes ago, I had a brainwave (yes, they do happen to us blondes) I thought I would use extension cables and see if I can get things to work and it has, happy days.
All this because I was suffering from withdrawal symptons on checking my emails. I was desperate to see if we had an email from our agent.
Anyway hope this gives you all a laugh.
