Re: Current Processing Times (continued)
Hi Twinset,
I am on the 2231-79 Oracle specialist (MODL)
Many thanks for the response, my agent (ASA) say they are waiting to hear more before they can advise. Had got the house going on the market later this month and if I cancel the medicals after this week then I will loose 50% of the costs.
I was planning a late telephone call tonight and was going to ring the immigration processing number to ask where they see my application in the list, and ask there advice on the medicals. If it's only a couple of months delay then I will go ahead with the medicals as we were planning to leave for Oz a couple of weeks after the visa was granted. If its much longer then I will go for the SSV option. If I get any meaningful info from the telephone call I will post it up on the site for reference.
Regards
Cliff

I think everything will be clear after the 13th of feb 2009. You see if DIAC started processing CSL occupations then your timeline would be shorter than it would have been before the introduction of the CSL. but for now no one can really tell. so if you are able to wait one month you would have a clearer picture.

Hi Guys,
I submitted my visa for a 176 under Project & Program Administrator on the 14th December '08, my Step-Dad who is a Aussie Citizen is acting as my sponsor.
I've been living in Australia for over 2.5 years and have been sponsored on a 457 for over a year and a half.
With the changes this year, i'm a bit confused as to where I would fall in the list - i'm assuming right down at the bottom???? :curse:

Is there any changes to processing time after a wave of job losses and the banking crisis?

Re: Current Processing Times (continued)
Hi All,
I am living in Sydney for last 5 years on 457. I got my PR yesterday .
Here is my timeline.
IELTS - 09/2007
Skill Assessment - 12/2007 (I did a mistake here. The SOE code I applied for was not in MODL but I was actually working as Data warehouse consultant, which is in MODL/SCL )
175 Application - 05/2008
PCC/Medicals - 08/2008
Then I waited till 12/2008. Finally came the press release from minister that the category I am in is going to get least priority! So I got frustrated. Since I am bit of settled in Sydney and in this economics climate, no jobs are secure; the prospect of loosing job and leaving the country (457 cancelled!) was too scary for me.
So I approached my employer. Since I have already applied for 175, I had all the documents ready. Still it took more than a month for me to push people around and get my ENS application lodged. Finally my ENS was lodged on 22/01/09. Good thing was it was a decision ready application. And then the magic happened. I got 856 approval on 23/01/2009. Just a day! I never thought that even in my wildest dream.
Best of luck to those, who are still waiting.
Thanks
Anubhav.

Aliza, 15 months max time was before thet changed the process in Dec, 2008.
Now, you (we) could be in for a longer wait as we belong to the least preferred category and hail from a HR country. Just go on about your life and forget that you even lodged the 176 App, atleast for the next 6 months.

Re: Current Processing Times (continued)
Hi all. I have been following this forum for some while as my daughter applied for a 175 modl visa and we have applied for a 143 cpv.(already have a son in Oz).
Good news is that the daughters visa has been granted today. Her timeline was: -
26/11/07 acknowledged
21/10/08 CO
26/11/08 Meds & PCs received in Oz
28/01/09 Visa granted
So all in all 14 months, but it has felt lots longer! So hang on in there it will eventually happen!

Anyway are you CSL/MODL or just MODL or is it non-MODL?
