we lodged a 175 application in nov 08 due to the changes in processing times we were wondering would it be worthwile changing our visa to a 176 state nominated? would we then fall into the group receivig a CO by 13th feb? or could we end up waiting een longer.
also a previous post showed the processing times update and included in the state nominated section was 175 what does this mean? my understanding was that 175 was an independent visa so are they being allocated in the same way as the 176?

That is the multi dollar question we all ask/pondering over.Even some 175 applicants with trades on both MODL and CSL yet nobody knows what is happening to those applns.Keep fingers crossed and wait for a miracle out there

Check out advice and posts from Alan Collett and George Lombard, amongst others - think Alan's advice is around 176s. You would want to check though...

Your agent was right Sara..If you hold a british passport. and you have the relevant registration in australia..you may alocated to a case officer in three of four months.. and if all documents met, you will be flying in another 8 weeks...

Unhappy Re: Current Processing Times (continued)

Hi, Just joined,

I applied through an agent and visa submitted in November 2008.

Modl 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist.)
I notice it states computer proffessionals MODL on the CSL

Does this mean I will get processed under MODL at the bottom or via the CSL list?

Also is it worthwhile applying for state sponsorship, as this would speed up my application?

Annoying thing is I had my medicals booked for two weeks time and now don't know whether to cancel them or not.

Anyone who can help it would be much appreciated.

Regards

Cliff

your occupation is on the CSL
If you apply for state sponsership you might be processed faster however you would have more restrictions on your visa so is it worth it?

I was originally planning to go out in APril / May this year based on the Agencies timings for November submission. does anyone have any idea what the new processing times are likely to be.

Your agent should be checking this for you via their portal - picture should be clearer by 13th Feb. Worthwhile downloading the processing times email weekly. Assume you are 175?

Some migration agents suggesting switch to state sponsored. But you say your skills on CSL. You would want to consult urgently with agent. Wouldn't cancel your medicals until you have checked.

Hi Twinset,

I am on the 2231-79 Oracle specialist (MODL)

Many thanks for the response, my agent (ASA) say they are waiting to hear more before they can advise. Had got the house going on the market later this month and if I cancel the medicals after this week then I will loose 50% of the costs.

I was planning a late telephone call tonight and was going to ring the immigration processing number to ask where they see my application in the list, and ask there advice on the medicals. If it's only a couple of months delay then I will go ahead with the medicals as we were planning to leave for Oz a couple of weeks after the visa was granted. If its much longer then I will go for the SSV option. If I get any meaningful info from the telephone call I will post it up on the site for reference.

Regards

Cliff
