We too applied at beginning of August. The agent said we should get acknowledgement about 9 weeks from then, and 3 weeks after that a file number. Money should be taken round about this time. Application allocated to a case officer in about 9 months (or sooner if lucky!) So the wait has begun!!!

We were originally told about 6 month, but in last correspondence quoted 9 months, maybe our agent is being cautious. What have you been told time wise??

Hitchcock 71 can you give me some advice about how i start the 457 process,hubby has a job to start, we are flying out the 10th of november, 136 modl in process just awaiting a CO but worried it wont come in time, meds were signed for 10th of july so everything is sorted justwaiting, can i apply online and do you have any links many thanks colleen

you need to speak to the company who oh will be working for to see if

they will sponser you for 457 if they will then its quite straight forward xxx

however just a note 457 is a temp visa not a perm visa and you do have to think if it the way you really want to go

our company will sponser us for pr in 6 months time and we have a 4yr visa anyway so we are happy doing this but really do have a think if you want to go down this rd

ok thanks, they have said they will sponsor him, but if i apply for a 457 how long will it take and will it affect my application for PR visa, can a 457 be applied for in oz and be granted there? sorry for all the questions it gets really confusing, basically if PR Visa doesnt come before november we are going over on a tourist visa but just wanted to know what my options were, many thanks for your help
