Naffed orrff today as Blackpool vs. Manchester united has been postponed - was looking forward to lunch & a few beers in the Albert & the lion on the prom before the game - even had a hip flask ready to fill to keep us warm during the game - bugger!

I'm not bloody surprised they've put a smaller plane on - I had a look on www.charterflights.co.uk & if you had a visa you could have gone from Manchester yesterday for under £140 - the planes must be near on empty. . . . . . . . .

, the rest was Government taxes, bringing it up to the £199 asking price. Heres the breakdown;Price Breakdown
Price Item Quantity Price (£)
Basic Holiday Cost 1 7.50
APD & APC 1 77.50
Tickets on Departure 1 15.00
Fuel Supplement 1 79.00
Luggage Charge 1 20.00
Total £199.00
A very good deal for a return flight to Goa (still available) inclusive of all taxes. Of course we all know that its pointless unless your sitting with a valid visa. This is surely an indication of how flights are not selling this season due to complete lack of interest.
PS. Forgot to say; this is for 15 nights departing on the 10th Dec.

I have never seen flights to Goa as cheap as this year.....on one monarch flight if you go into the breakdown costs.....the actual flight was costing £7.50

Monarch this morning was three hours late taking off and that too was stopping over at Bahrain as it was a 300 not a 330. The passengers were not very happy. Two Monarchs left within 10 mins of each other.

Can anyone recommend an ayurevedic massage parlour in North Goa. Not some seedy shack but one of them brochure type luxury spa places with heated oils and pure luxury and pampering guaranteed. I would like to organise one for the oh.
Thanks,
Remy

Looking at Remy's detailed beakdown and how many of those costs must be fixed rather than percentages, one has to assume that on the flights Hem is quoting they are actually paying you to go to Goa?
Not enough yet though!

We went to one once, when the new one opened near Lewanders Supermarket on the road between Candolim and Calengute. Would never pay that price again - better to send her to one in the UK.

According to JCBrum (on another forum) Monarch flights that are now stopping at Bahrain to refuel are not allowing passengers to disembark as it is an "unscheduled" stop.
So forget hitting duty free!

Tour Operators to Goa surely cannot survive like this!
Make sure you book flights by Visa and that the tour operator is ABTA/ATOL protected because you could see a few go 'belly up' during the season.

yes indeed.....i think a lot of airlines are now just trying to cover taxes and fuel but basically the passenger is not being charged for the 'actual' flight. Damage limitation because of the very poor ticket sales.

Just spoken with my maid thro the jungle telegraph from Borneo to Goa.She also works for 2 russian couples who normally come for 6 months a year. Both couples have only just arrived and have only been given 2 month visas!!!!
And in case anyone is interested- Borneo is clean and cheaper than Goa for food. There are CLEAN public toilets everywhere, there are rubbish bins everywhere that people use and the the roads cannot be faulted. The roads are swept regularly, there is a regular garbage collection and there are flat ,level pavements to walk on.There are no shacks on the beach and all the handicrafts are housed in 1 market in the city- hence no lamanis or "come and lookee my shop".
