Let us see if if Modi appoints any Muslims to his cabinet.That would be the real indicator of his desire for all of India to pull together and full fill his pledge of ,"Toilets before temples." It would be wonderful if he did.

Can't appoint a Muslim to his cabinet as no senior Muslim got a seat.
The Muslim vote though increased this time particularly young voters. As 14% of the population they used to be a 'vote bank' for Congress.---not this time!!

He is attending the ceremony.I could never have imagined in a million years that the RSS would have allowed a PM of Pakistan to attend such an important ceremony as this unless it was to poison him at some point and blame it on the yanks ! I do like the fact that he has promised to suspend the special status of Kashmir and bring a civil code for everybody-no exemptions at all.The curtain twitching Muslims will not like that, especially the head bangers.The term headbangers started in The Indian Army.It was used to denote very devout Muslims who when offering up their five times a day to Mecca used to bang their foreheads on the floor and they developed a dark spot there, and possibly brain damage too.It meant you had to keep an eye on them due to behavioral problems etc....My neighbors are devout salafists from Bangladesh.Its hilarious to watch them going about their business.When they want to go out shopping and they dont have a parking space in front of their house, he goes out first and sits in the car until a place is available then all the women run from their front door and scramble in.Its even got tinted windows in the back so they can take off their bin liners......I mean its 2014 not 1014 with crusaders hammering on the door.

You are obsessed with the RSS, they are 'has-beens'. Modi has stated no officials over 75 yrs age!!

Just watched the entire ceremony on TV it went well. Many women in the cabinet and there is a Muslim (lady)-- minister for minorities.
Mr Advani very gracious, stern faced Sonia and Rahul.

Interesting that many (of course all those from south India) made the oath in English language.

All in all a very 'moving' ceremony. The worlds largest democracy.

Bipat the RSS have over the past 6 months quadrupled their membership and opened offices in nearly every large town and city in India so please do not say they are hasbeens and past it.They are as active and dangerous as they have ever been.They still dream of washing their feet in Indus.

I meant as a political force. They do social work all over India, yes they are Hindus and promote Hinduism but so what, it is a Hindu majority country. About 80% ( think), it is said even Muslims have joined, I don't know if this is true.

How are they dangerous?

Was in a staunch BJP household recently and much laughter about the old baggy shorts up to the armpits, flapping down to the knees and paunch in between.

SPECIAL STATUS Delegation to Centre by Sept- end: Parrikar

PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday announced he would take a delegation of legislators to the Centre by September end with a detailed proposal for granting special status to Goa, either under article 371 of the Constitution of India or by creating a new law to preserve the State’s limited resources.

Parrikar informed the State legislative assembly that a fortnight back the office of Union Home Minister called to inform him about the State’s proposal for granting special status. The office has asked to submit a detailed proposal on the issue.


The Chief Minister announced he would be taking the delegation to meet officials of Union Home Minister after Ganesh Chaturthi. We have been clear with our demand.

We want special status either under article 371 of the constitution or any other provisions or by creating a new law as per the constitution, he said, responding to the question raised by Porvorim independent legislator Rohan Khaunte.

During our meeting we will convince the Centre as to what and why we want special status, he said. Khaunte sought to know the status of the government’s promise to grant special status for Goa. The MLA appealed to the CM to take up the matter with the Centre at the earliest before Goa loses its identity and land resources.

Former Chief Minister and Congress legislator Digambar Kamat also urged the government to take up the matter on priority, especially ban on selling of properties to non- Goans.

Replying to the same, Chief Minister recalled that the assembly had last year unanimously passed a resolution on special status and the same is being forwarded to the Prime Minister.

Countering Khaunte’s allegation that Goa is losing its identity due to influx of migrants, Parrikar said, We cannot solely blame migrants; there are several unwanted elements Goans are falling prey to, which we had never thought. He alleged that several politicians did business of illegally selling properties by forging signatures.

Parrikar said that state is making all efforts to pursue the matter of special status with the Central government.

I am not sure how it would work, how to prevent migrants with genuine jobs buying a home, or those with Goan ancestry moving back from the cities in retirement.

At the moment much is investment/second homes/black money. The tax on second homes would not prevent migration though and it would already seem to be too late.
A niece recently married into a Goan family, they rent in a smart apartment block in Panjim. We went there in the evening and the rest of the block in darkness, most unoccupied they explained-- investment properties.

The same thing is happening in Karwar, so many blocks being built and empty, the only land ordinary local people can buy is 4-5 miles out of the city.
With the possibility of Karwar becoming a naval station in 20-30 years time land prices have increased.
Same also happening regarding those who left in youth for work/ education in the cities now returning to buy a second home or to retire by the coast!!!

PANAJI: The central government has rejected Goa's demand for special status for the state, Union minister of state for home affairs, Kiren Rijiju stated.
In a written reply to a question raised by Goa Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, the minister said that the demand for grant of special status to Goa "has not been found justifiable and hence not agreed to".
Terming the demand a contravention of the Indian Constitution, Rijiju countered, "Article 19 (1)(d) and 19(1)(e)of the Constitution of India protect the right of free movement throughout the territory of India and to reside and settle in any part of the country."

One of the reasons I love my bike, for the most part you can get through the traffic, although people who just drive on the wrong side drives me insane and really makes the problem worse...
