Good article in todays Guardian 2 concerning Mr. Modi from Aditya Chakrabortty on the so-called Gujarati economic miracle. You should read it Bipat as its from a fellow Indians view of who he is and who supports him.

He is Bengali and typically Bengali people are not BJP supporters. Amartya Sen (also from Bengal) but life time in USA! made the pronouncement that Modi will never become prime minister and that the BJP does not exist in Bengal. Bengal is just one state. As I said we will have to wait and see what happens. See on the news Mamata causing trouble again! admire her spirit. Only left wing or Communist choice there really. Having refused Tata a start there and their subsequent success in Gujarat bound to speak against latter. |
Re: In To-day's Newspapers
she is a breath of fresh air in Indian politics though despite her economic record but then again she did fight against Tata, who then turned to Modi and Gujarat. I have seen videos of the pollution being generated by these companies and in some parts of the Kutt of Rani there is no life at all and the ground water has disappeared completely because of these huge factories. I must admit i am very suspicious of Narendra Modi because there are so many dark parts to his history. We know all about his early membership in the RSS and how he went through university.A failed marraige ? Is he homosexual ? Im always suspicious of people who attempt to put it across that they are married to the job or are a life long bachelor.Man is a sexual animal and to deny that drive...hm ! But if he does win then he find himself in the spot light like never before and the secrets he has successfully suppressed while governor will come out to haunt him and India. He is still barred from the USA too.

I also wondered about Kiran Bedi, who I very much admire. I noticed though how many Indian ladies now have a Kiran Bedi hairstyle! He has not expressed any recent wish to visit USA so they had no chance to bar. |

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Perhaps Modi is a secret longi-lifter and he would not be the first one either in Indian politics.Vajpayees nick name in parliament was The Dry Coconut....! But i think he was gay really, same as Edward Heath here. His nick name in Westminster was Dock Yard Doris... Anyway its going to get interesting with all the speculation and only yesterday a women in Gujarat said she was married to him but Modi buggered off to University and dumped her.

It didn't just "pop up", it is now a mandatory requirement to disclose on the election candidate form. Law changed recently.

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Give me a boy before he is seven and i will have his hole for life......! More like it and the RSS would not have thrown Modi out if he was longi-lifter. I have never come across a more camp lot in my life. Pressed Kahki shorts held up by a broad leather belt. Polished brown shoes and knee high socks. White shirt no tie and a small stick to prod with...adult boy scouts if you ask me.

http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...xtremism-india http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe...ticle17956175/ Modi apologists will cite left leaning news organs as being unreliable, etc, etc, but the Canadian Globe & Mail is a right of centre paper and both reports point to this extremist's lack of action during the riots. His memorable comment was that the slaughter of 2000 Muslims, the rapes of thousands of underage Muslim girls as well as women touched him like a car running over a puppy would! Well suited to being the next PM of this country. He will be shivering in his dhoti should the Chinese indulge in border skirmishes. The saffron lot can deal with panache with defenceless girls, old men other minorities, but present them with real opposition and they will high tail it fro m the arena of confrontation, with their tails between their legs and shivering in their lunghis! |

Millions of Indian people obviously disagree with you!! What is your opinion of the Congress party's active involvement in the 1984 Sikh massacres?? Further to above I am not sure about the logic of the second link. Worrying about relationship with Canadian citizens who originate from Gujarat. The Gujaratis (including Muslims) have overwhelmingly voted in Modi as Chief Minister three times, so what has changed??? |
