Re: In To-day's Newspapers
ToI today reports that the Supreme Court has ruled that property sales by Power of Attorney / Agreement for Sale / Will do NOT convey title. This seems to upsetting people in Delhi and dodgy agents everywhere - personnaly I can't see what all the fuss is about - I thought it had already been covered by the Registration and Other Related Laws (Amendment) Act, 2001 - however in the ToI it reports the court as saying "Nothing prevents affected parties from getting registered deeds of conveyance to complete their title". If that is part of the judgement then it seems to me that it could be argued that the Registrars in Goa are in contempt of the Supreme Court by preventing registration.
