Re: In To-day's Newspapers

According to today's paper the Indian govt have forced the British govt to re-start issuing visa in Belgium by refusing Indian visas to British applicants in Belgium and increasing visa fees to match those charged to Indians visiting Britain.
This doesn't seem to be completely borne out by the FCO website - but check out the charges - €10 for a phone call and €124 + VAT to do the biometrics PLUS the visa fee no wonder people complain.
India has been talking about using biometrics for visas so I guess we will eventually have to pay the same when getting our Indian visas!

Well, they got away with murder in the face of overwhelming evidence, so probably a good choice?

Not an heroic act, just seriously bad luck.

Could it be that, over the months since, the repeated acclaim of being an hero was a factor that drove him to suicide??

Think on it..

.

It is a similar situation to that of Phillip Olds, a Met police officer who was shot and paralysed after responding to an armed robbery in the 80's.
He kept being referred to as a hero and seemed to cope amazingly well with his injuries - then committed suicide.
Post trauma stress disorder is very prevalent following something so life changing and it has been shown many times in recent history that the police do not deal well with post trauma effects. The support system offered to police officers is not as good as it could be either.
I believe similar can be said of armed forces personnel coming back from wars.

Very sad all round

India’s tit for tat to UK on visa norms

2 Mar: Times of India. India has forced the UK to roll back its decision to bar Indians to apply for UK visas from Belgium by restricting UK nationals from applying for visas in Brussels… The Indian retaliation though was also increasing the visa fee, bringing it on par with the money charged from Indians for UK visa… "Now that they have given in, there will be no change in the visa cost though," said a source

Kamat's resigned so it's all over.
The 'man from Parra' is tipped to be next CM.

Ingeneral terms I would expect BJP to be less foreigner friendly than Congress, but DK was always more BJP than Congress (parties are just labels of convenience anyway).

I have heard that Parrikar has said he has no objection in principle to foreigners owning a house or apartment - but that was then and this is now.
Who knows!

If M Lobo gets in for Calangute he should be very friendly to foreigners seeing that he made a lot of money building and selling them properties over the last 10 years
