Congress fights within after Goa defeat
7 Mar: IBNS. The infighting within the Congress party is evident after a miserable defeat with the outgoing Chief Minister Digambar Kamat saying that he should have been projected as the next chief minister… Manohar Parrikar, who is most likely to head the state as the new CM www.goanvoice.org.uk |

@Portrait of Britain 2012:
The terrorists have won. Sad bag ladies used to be given a cup of tea and referred for help. Amazing the resources that can be scrambled at the hint of the magic word 'terrorist' - no wonder there's no-one to deal with burglaries or street crime! AndyD 8-)# |

Just in on BBC news 46.9% of 246.6 million homes in India are without any indoor toilets.But, 63.2% own a either a landline or a mobile phone.....Pity it doesnt mention how many Panchyats run a garbage collection service.The figures would be below 10%, i think. A terrible indictment of a developing country in these figures though.No wonder Monsoon Holidays are becoming popular in Goa its because Mumbai in Monsoon stinks to high heaven because the The Bay of Bombay becomes a huge soak pit of discarded effluent and rubbish. I have seen dead dogs floating at The Gate of India.

60 years of neglect by government of the rural areas. I don't think you can include Mumbai in the monsoon with this, 3-4' or more of flood water in a bad year, the drains cannot cope, and obviously they overflow. Dogs drown, people drown, when they fall down a drain when the cover has gone. |

One of the funniest things we saw in Goa, was driving up a side road at Nerul, and there was an old man. door open sitting on his new "loo" proud as punch door open waving to us. |
