Operations to correct abnormal genitalia are sometimes necessary and these ops. are done in specialist units so at least an investigation to get at the truth is important. Seven genitoplasty experts in Indore boasted each of them had turned 200 to 300 girls into 'boys' so far, with only one being older than 14, the legal age of consent to such an operation. These butchers would graft on a plasticine willy if they thought it would get them the dowry they crave. Absolute bl**dy savages and scum...... . |

Bipat, please re-read the article, we are not talking hundreds, but thousands; To re-introduce the excuse of "corrective surgery " does you no credit. For goodness sake look at the figures. All involved, plus innocent bystanders have no doubt that the reason for this disgraceful activity is the obsession with "boy-child". These butchers would graft on a plasticine willy if they thought it would get them the dowry they crave. Absolute bl**dy savages and scum...... . Corrective surgery is done in the UK by the 10s so obviously would be in 100s India if this is what they are describing. (This does not concern altering the sex of the child, the child is actually male but with apparently female genitalia). This is what thw surgeons are describing in the article. Realistically it is not possible to turn a normal girl child into a boy. Are they removing the ovaries and uterus? Mutilation and 'grafting on' as you describe would be obvious. The child would still have female chromesomes. However this report is being investigated to find out if girls are being operated on in some way and if found to be true as you say horrendous. |

Goa water unsafe for bathing and fishing
30 Jun: MidDay. Marine scientists have said the waters off Goa’s coast contain alarmingly high levels of coliform bacteria caused by the release of untreated sewage… Seawaters along the Indian coasts are classified as fit for commercial fishing, contact recreation and bathing activities when the faecal coliform (FC) count is less than 100 CFU/100 ml. But levels as high as 190 CFU/100 ml were found in certain locations of Goa waters What a surprise! |

Scarlett Keeling movie could run into trouble
1 Jul: Herald. Ukranian model Nataliya Kozhenova, tried pushing back the sands of time to relive (and die) the times of British teenager Scarlett Keeling, in a movie named Anjuna Beach, after the location which Scarlett partied and perished … The movie was shot in spite of the State government not giving any permission for the shooting… Deceased Scarlett's mother, Fiona Mackeown, who launched a sustained campaign in Goa to bring justice to her daughter, would want to see the movie, but she appeared distant and even disinterested www.goanvoice.org.uk Warning over Indian film about British teen death 1 Jul: Straits Times (Singapore). Vikram Varma, the lawyer for Fiona Mackeown has warned that filmmakers could face legal action for making a movie about the case. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_686065.html |

Personally I would rather take my chance in the sea than in the average swimming pool but that is not based on any scientific evidence. I suppose the answer is don't swallow the water and have a shower after!!! |

We were in the Colva and Benaulim area for three years, and as you say no signs of sewage in the sea, apart from a few plastic bottles and the Oil Balls. Swam in the sea most days, in the monsoon as well. But there was a lot of garbage at the back of the beach around Marjorda area. |
