We have a lot to thank the Labour party for, they signed us up to spend billions supporting the Euro after they lost the election as well!

Nobody in the arrival lounge

1 Aug: Herald. Ranked once as a must place on the international travellers itenary, Goa is losing its charm. With only 0.44 million international tourists visiting the state in 2010, the road ahead seems to be downhill for the sector. Goa needs to start thinking ‘out of the box’ to improve its image in the market

"Goa....world class night clubs......"

That'll be the sleazy cattle market down 'Tito's Lane', or maybe the emerging 'dancing girl' bars.....very sophisticated, certainly world class.

The usual drivel about budget travellers and not spending much. Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia are crowded with budget travellers, gap year flashpackers, and they are catered for excellently, as are 5 star tourists.

Goa is increasingly seedy (and not even in an efficient, business like way), and third rate/third world (but not in the charming 'in a time capsule', chilled out way it once was).

In today's HERALD, pages 1 & 9 , "LONDON ATTRACTION IN GOA SOON" - GTDC (Goa Tourist Development Corporation) okays hop-on-hop-off bus service for tourists.

If anyone can get on-line version, perhaps they could post it?

Given the state of the roads at present in Candolim with potholes etc, it might be a case of "hop-on-get-thrown-off"!!

Users beware, if it comes to anything, that is................. & pigs may fly............

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

cheers

GTDC okays hop-on-hop-off bus service for tourists

by SURAJ NANDREKAR thanks to the Herald, Goa

It has been observed that in major places of tourist importance such as Europe and South East Asia, hop-on-hop-off buses have proved to be immensely popular among the tourists
– Nikhil Desai

PANJIM: The hop-on-hop-off bus service, an attraction for tourists in London, could soon be a reality in Goa too.
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) board meeting held last week gave its approval to start the hop-on-hop-off bus service for tourists sight-seeing in Goa.
According to the GTDC Managing Director Nikhil Desai the bus service is the need of the State, which would cover various tourism circuits in North and South Goa.
Desai says the State Government has

LONDON TO LOUTOLIM: An open top tourist sightseeing hop-on-hop-off bus

also renewed its support for such a facility.
“It has been observed that in major places of tourist importance such as Europe and South East Asia, hop-on-hop-off buses have proved to be immensely popular among the tourists”, Desai explained.
He further adds, “if GTDC has to introduce this service then a minimum of 10 buses will be required to effectively cover the circuit in North and South Goa”.
Desai also stated that due to constraints of funds and staff it may not be possible for GTDC to introduce this service on its own.
“It is instead proposed that GTDC may look at other options such as entering into a commercial tie-up with private investors to provide hop-on-hop-off services by using both conventional buses and amphibious vehicles”, he said.
He, however, said that like London, Double Decker buses would not be feasible in Goan conditions but possibility of open air buses with audio commentary facility, trained guide etc may be looked into.
“The GTDC will only play a role of a facilitator and not make any investment. The GTDC will offer marketing support to the private partner in various campaigns in country and abroad and will also ensure website bookings”, he said.
Giving details of the service, he said, presently one bus takes the tourists for sightseeing and they do not have freedom to stay longer at a place if they like.
“But in hop-on-hop-off service there would be continuous buses running every 30 minutes and the tourists can hop-on hop-off anytime and spend more time at their favorite destination”, he says.

If you do not get decapitated by the overhead wires you could be electrocuted, or you could hit your head on a bunch of coconuts or get burnt from the lack of shade.
