had enough!

Re: had enough!
Oh heck and there was me looking forward to moving to TO sometime this year. Although I haven't lived in TO...but I have spent months on end there and have enjoyed it. I have found the people to be friendly and there are always plenty of Brits to chat to.

Come to Newfoundland!
These Newfies are the friendliest people I have ever met. I have travelled the world delivering and sailing yachts and came here about 5 years ago by accident (in distress after being caught in a hurricane on the Grand Banks) I was looked after by many people and made to feel right at home.
Perfect strangers would just come up to me and invite me home for dinner!
Had no money to fix the boat, no work permit etc. People here looked after me out of kindness.
Met a great Newfie lady after a few months and I am still here.
Kind of hard to leave when you have so many good friends.

Re: had enough!
OK - my half-penny here. We left Tdot after a year. On reflection, we emigrated just after the death of my father - probably not the best time and sadly I think I lost friendship with a very dear couple at the time in Tdot.
I had to come back after a year, something fundamentally was telling me I had to, in the same way something now is telling me it is time to return.
The OP is saying what he feels and these thoughts and emotions should not be question.
Sometimes I feel that this board has a real my country is better than yours feeling to it. Both are great in their own ways. I would suggest the OP has made HIS decision on the knowledge he has now.
The suggestion of exploring other areas will only work if you really want to stay in Canada - your posts suggest otherwise.

I assume that by "Tdot" you mean Toronto. If so, why "Tdot", where does it come from, is it a gay thing?

Re: had enough!
Here legally?
Not sure.
When I first arrived here I had no money to apply for an extension to stay, didn't have any plans to stay, just fix the boat and sail away. But with no money and no work permit, this took 22 months. My partner and I then sailed away heading for Ireland but the weather in the North Atlantic beat us back again. So I put in an application for an extended stay. Never heard back from immigration.
Went back to UK for a quick visit last Easter and when I came back they gave me three weeks, Applied for an extension and still haven't heard back.
Immigration don't seem to have a category to put me in!
