Oh it will win me brownie points regardless - they're foodies and they've been to the Padstow restaurant :)

Reviews for the hotel were a bit mixed, TBH, so I'm happy we're staying somewhere else.

Ah, that explains it ... My OH has been telling me stories about Molly Meldrum and his inept interviewing technique for years.

Brownie points are the main thing ;)

My colleague took his wife to the Padstow one for her 50th.
Reckoned it was the biggest rip-off he had come across and the so called hotel side was a glorified B&B.

Well I'm not taking them to Padstow for dinner, regardless of the number of brownie points I need.

 I will. Haven't been to the South Coast yet.

Got two nights booked in wine country too, so I can stock up on bubbly ;)

They can go when they get home, it's not that far from Swindon.

We've booked Quay too. Best restaurant in Sydney (and we've been, so we know how good it is) and this time there's no ship in so we might actually be able to see the Opera House.

Now, what else to do...(Opera High Tea is on the list, can't book it yet though.) God it's awful having to do all these lovely things myself, just to entertain people. :(

Anybody done an Australia Day evening fireworks cruise in Sydney? Recommendations?

(Sorry, total thread hijack - it was way too serious though ;) )

Oh god yes. We've only been once and that was before we moved here, but it was fab. (They're already booked up into January!)

Another great one is Pier but I'm wary of us being in seafood overload, especially as I'm going to take them to the Fish Markets too. Suits me but might not suit them so much, and The Geek needs a bit of meat now and then :)
