Re: How has your day been?
Just learned that DD was only one point off getting a higher band in 2 subjects, and 2 points off in a third. That would have made a big difference- 3 extra points would have made her ATAR over 5 points higher (and over 90) and given her a more respectable result. In a fourth she was only 4 points off. The other two were good grades and were as expected by the teachers, or one grade better in the case of English.
How frustrating is that??? Wonder if her teachers will request a re-mark on the two one-pointers?? Trouble is, one of them was maths, and there isn't any room for improvement as it is either right or wrong!! I'm hoping DD feels a bit better about her performance now- I do, but also find it hard that she missed so narrowly in half her subjects.

B*gg*r. Took DD out for a driving lesson, and she has managed to dent/scrape the car, getting it wrong whilst going into a tight bend in a car park.
She is devastated and shook up. I'm trying to be calm, but we are looking at a huge repair bill, and a child who is even more depressed/anxious now.

Which is exactly why we left the driving instruction to a professional. If my kid messes up they dent/scratch/scrape/etc someone else's car. And there's the added bonus of a professional teaching them instead of me passing on my bad habits.

Re: How has your day been?
Driving lessons at 40 dollars per hour minimum x 120 hour statutory minimum that a learner driver needs in Victoria would cost 4800 dollars..... It's more like 5500 as they usually cost 185 bucks for 5 lessons @ 45 mins.
Ergo personally I paid for 10 lessons to get her to handle a car and got the 19yo daughter through myself. Pay for a advanced driving course after shes passed at 300 dollars and that'll fix up the bad habits.

She had 10 lessons from a professional instructor. I blame myself for not telling her quickly enough to swing a bit wider- it was a bit late by the time I said it. She's done that turn before with no trouble. Guess we are all having a bad time of it atm. OH scalded himself last night whilst bringing me a cup of tea- either that or he meant to fling it at me.
