How has your day been?

Re: How has your day been?
MEH. Daughter got her IB results and they were much lower than expected. She has just scraped into uni, but not onto the honours course, and the subject she wants to do was her weakest result. She is very upset and has taken herself off.
I was pleased with her English result, as I'd been tutoring her myself, and it was her best exam (having been predicted a much lower grade), but having spent all that money on a maths and French tutor didn't push her grades up, though with French I didn't really expect it to, as we were only told she was struggling with a couple of months to go. Maths was disappointing considering how much work she had done. Maybe she just had a case of exam stress/blank.
I'm trying to reassure her that Uni is where she can start again, and find out what subjects she likes and is good at, and once she is on her course she can change if she gets good enough marks, but looks like Psych and Languages are not for her.....
At least she passed overall and gets her Diploma.

As you say she's passed and into Uni - a fresh start on things with the experience of the IB. I'm sure she'll do well in the future

Hard sometimes when the results aren't what you are expecting - hope she's feeling better soon - she should be proud of herself for passing because not everyone does. (((hugs))) for your daughter Caroline

Re: How has your day been?
University is a TOTALLY different ball game to the study and exams that gain you entry to it.....
Independent, self directed and relatively free ....
She should be celebrating the fact she HAS got into uni....
No one will care about her IB results once she is there!

Re: How has your day been?
I hear you: the IB is supposed to be similar in many ways as to how Uni works, so am a little concerned that she didn't do well in the subjects she wants to study, but as you say, no one cares about the results once you get there.

She is now an adult ...going onwards to adult education.... Time for mummy and daddy to butt out and let her fly free....
Even if you ARE paying the bills

43.6 and still rising, we have lost a chicken due to suspected heat stress.

Due to the heat, the day has been a cycle of: food, watching cricket, swim, .....
