Had a lovely morning at the beach- first time in 2 years as OH and DD don't like going. Did some bodysurfing and got dumped by a rogue wave. Now have sand in every imaginable spot, but in the ears was the worst bit. However, overall it was great fun. Must do it more often.

Well twas going fine until just now.... Wifes peed of at me over something very trivial. She asked what a quart was in litres... I said about a litre.... then after a while, after a brief confirmation google, I told her all depends what type of quart US or UK... which is when she got unusually annoyed.

LOL....

Why the hell are there two different types of quart for xsakes. ?

Because the Yanks wanted to be different, it's the same with gallons, which is why the US need to embrace decimalisation, get rid of all those problems.

Cups (as in the measurement type of cup not a tea cup) are a different size too - here in Australia they're based on a metric system - so a cup is 250ml, but in the US it's around 236ml so I guess that's based on an imperial measurement.

::googles it::

1 US cup = 0.5 US pint.

I never thought about it before but that probably means that a US teaspoon/tablespoon is different too?

Bu**er -I have now got to cancel my hair appointment and go for an urgent retinal scan. Think my retina is detaching itself in my right eye as I keep seeing flashes and wiggly lines. Not the ideal start to the day.
Trouble is, if I can't see very well, I can't drive. so I have to find a way to get to the station.

Not a good day - washing machine has decided it doesn't want to work in the middle of a load

Few checks done and nothing obvious - gonna have to take it apart and check the motor - not my idea of a relaxing Sunday afternoon!

Yuk- last sunday my dishwasher died with all my mostly washed plates and bowls inside it. OH had to spend half an hour on his back dismantling the broken handle and jemmying the door open.

$1200 for a new one (That includes 250 for delivery, disposal of the old one, and installation.)

Hope you have a less expensive time of it.

250 for delivery, where do you live.

If it makes you feel any better, when the dishwasher blew up here, I got a 1000 one for 700 (after tromping round stores for 4 hours) and its brilliant, BUT, we picked it up, all boxed, drove home, pulled the old one out, partner puts the new one in and I oped door and its USED. Water marks, smell, scratched.

Pull out, pack up, down the highway in traffic, they reckon it was just some innocent confusion, but really it was all sealed and packed up, so I dont know if they were trying to pass it off.

Take brand new one home and repeat.......

I remember something like that many years ago, was buying my first mobile phone, got it from ASDA (before they became Walmart).got home, opened the box, put the sim card in, charged it, then went in to activate it and get my free £10's worth of credit, screen came up to say that there was £1 of credit left, tried a few other things and it was obvious that the phone had been used, took it back in it's box and got a replacement, they just took the box from me, chacked everything was ther and PUT IT BACK WITH THE UNSOLD PHONES so some other customer was going to get the same problem. I pointed it out to the assistant, and she said.. Oh, sorry, I'll put it to one side, which she did.
