Fair point, I don't mind a bit of lethargy sometimes though ... as do the Sri Lankan batsmen apparently ... 88 for 6, Watson grabbing 3 wickets LBW on a pitch that seems to be doing all sorts.

(edit) All gawn for 105 ... Lyon gets 5 ... Funny old game ...

What a great game of cricket. Day 2 and Australia are already batting again and are 270-odd ahead with 7 in hand

Who said test cricket is boring

I think I prefer Tests to last more than 3 days but it certainly makes a change

They must be playing on a ploughed field.

It seems only fair, for sake of balance, to report that India have just won the ODI series at home 5-0.

And there wasn't too many close games.

But, meh.

Not only was there a distinct lack of interest on BE but the crowds at the stadia were very disappointing. Too much cricket. Simple as. (How many times have the teams met recently, 18?)

England & Australia will play each other so often over the next three seasons - I assume this won't repeat itself.

I think England and Oz will always draw decent crowds in all formats.

The Indian interest in the India ODIs is probably not helped by the domestic focus on the T20 slogathon that is currently in vogue.

That and the fact that England aren't, historically, a great one-day side.

It's being covered live by Test Match Sofa & non-geo blocked if anyone's interested.

Recovery of sorts, 158-4 after 44 overs.

I'll be tuning into Test Match Sofa later, I managed to get some ODI commentary from a SA radio station (via my iThing) earlier so I'll try that too.

I'm happy with this score. Wicket is hard to bat on but good batsmen will get runs (Clarke), SA bowled well though. Steyn was awesome.

Even stevens with SA slightly ahead.

Radio 2000 in SA have live coverage. Unusually, ABC radio are covering it too.

Looks like a good, if short, series ahead.

Radio 2000 was the one I was listening to the other day, not bad coverage at all. ABC are onto it too? Blimey ...
