I'm not a big fan of his, but I was impressed by Clarke. Not just the 151 against good bowling on a tough pitch, but more so his reaction to the defeat. Ponting would have had that 'caught in the headlights' look on his face and would have come out with every excuse in the book. Not so Clarke. He said that Australia had sucked and that their performance was unacceptable, that his 151 meant nothing and that heads are going to roll. Good stuff.

Ponting, Haddin, Johnson, Hughes really need to be worried about their places. Australia are now in a perfect position to start building for the future. It's up to them.
Yup to all of that, the broom needs to be swept now with the upcoming Tests against NZ and an erratic Indian team.

I'll be at the Gabba on Day 3 as an interested spectator, it'll be amusing to see how the lower echelons of the ranking ladder are fairing.

I think I'll wear my Ashes shirt just because ...

Wow, that's crazy news. I was listening to him on the radio just the other day. I was not a big fan of his commentary, but sad news all the same.

That's awful. I really liked his unbiased commentary (though to be fair most cricket commentators are fairly good at praising / criticising all round) I often wondered where his slightly odd accent came from. Now I know.

Oh well, he can watch all the games at once now.

Botham amongst others will be feeling relieved this morn. I hated that affected accent he adopted in Oz but some of his written work I appreciated.

Nothing so far in your media about possible causes?

Yes, he certainly was the controversial type, especially in his private life.

But sad all the same

Apparently police were called last night and he was in an 'agitated' state, it doesn't bode well.

Look, Peter Roebuck was a fine cricket writer. But he used his status to procure vulnerable young men. That’s fact. The manner of his death and the reasons behind it will probably be hushed up. Cricket’s like that. Hansie Cronje and Bob Woolmer ditto. Some may feel we should consider Roebuck’s talents in his obituary. I think we should focus on the truth.
