The Sensible Australian Election Thread

Re: The Sensible Australian Election Thread
I still think that's part of the problem with the current line though - All the stops along the Central Coast make the journey interminable! Maybe stopping at Gosford...

Gosford, Hornsby and Strathfield so they have the option to go down the North Shore Line or out to Parramatta.

Yes, that would work. And probably an inevitable stop at Redfern. So Central, Redfern, Strathfield, Hornsby, Gosford, Newcastle. Much quicker than the current route.
Losing Fassifern and those other tiny places would be a real benefit to speed I think.

Where's ex exile to say that the rail idea is a load of rubbish unlike the NBN?

Re: The Sensible Australian Election Thread
But seriously, there is merit in the idea of a HS rail link from Newcastle to Canberra to make the "home counties" if you will commutable. A rail link to Melbourne airport is also a worthy project but Sydney to Melbourne is impractical.
The 20m survey is more money for votes though, doesnt look like a serious commitment.

There is going to be a sustainable population debate at the press club this afternoon, lets see if they cover the main points which for me are:
Population numbers
Immigration policy
Housing (housing starts were down again this quarter, ABC can provide the stats)
Transport
Water

Hang on - do mean, like, a debate about actual issues, or one party simply criticising the ideas of the other and vice versa?

Already had some protestors dragged out [fair go for refugees; fair go for refugees!!] so its as proper as a debate as we are likely to get.
A journo just nailed the minister on the Oceanic viking, too funny.
