Adelaide and SA,

As Wendy rightly pointed out obtaining local electrical licence is much easier which means that you can start working earlier.
Plenty of work for electricians as well.

Other not mentioned things.
Adelaide is a much smaller city and as a result driving/commuting times are much shorter than in large busy cities. That means that you can live where you want and still get to/from work in reasonable time. It takes me 35 minutes to do 25km from home to work.

City is big enough to be able to get everything that you want. All the shops are here.

Cheaper housing. Prices are growing but still good.

Probably over 80% of state population lives in Adelaide, that means that after you easily get out of the city there are a lot of wild places, nature, empty beaches.

Nearby Kangaroo Island is a great spot to go away for a week.

Good schools, even top private schools are not very expensive.

As we are not into city nightlife, but more into quality living and spending free time out of the city Adelaide suits us very well.

I Can't comment on Perth as never been, but surely being a bigger city, there are more jobs, also there has got to be better road infrastructure than Adelaide as it is a pain in the arse to travel from south to north, or even south to the city, without hitting what seems like hundreds of traffic lights and only being able to travel at 60k.
You can also get a feel of what Adelaide has got going for it, when one of their best tourist places in Glenelg, which is only a street with a small beach at the bottom of it. The said beach is mostly covered with seaweed and is only dragged when they have beach volley ball games or any other sports on it. Yes you can eat yourself stupid there and there are a few bars but nothing on a grand scale whatsoever.
The only plus I can see in living in Adelaide rather than Perth is that it is closer to Melbourne and Sydney but you still have to get on a plane to either, unless you want drive 8 hrs to Melbourne.

As I said everybody is looking for something different.
Less jobs in Adelaide?
Maybe.
BUT also less competition.

Glenelg and the area is not really my cup of tea, been there once in a year and a half.
Waitpinga or Goolwa in the South, Dolphin Bay or Daly Heads beaches at Yorkes now we are talking.

We have lived for many years in huge monster cities of the Eastern Asia where top level of roads is higher than 10 story buildings so for us Adelaide is just the right size.
No reasons to go to Melb or Sydney.

Driving at 60 is a pleasure, what's the hurry?

Slight difference in price though! $400 compared to $140

I agree with what you have said. I haven't had much time to reply with working, so thanks for typing that for me

I personally don't want to live anywhere else, after saying that I haven't been anywhere else though, and don't particularly feel the need to either.

I do like the nightlife here though, but maybe that's more to do with the people I go out with rather than what's on offer (Julia and I can have a good time just going out for coffee )

Feel exactly the same!
I agree that it doesn't matter where you go for a night out, it's the company you're with that makes the night When I've been out with friends, we could be sat in the crappiest pub going, but still have a good night. Have been to some really nice places but with people I have just met and didn't enjoy myself much

Speaking as a Perth boy born and bred, I love Adelaide! It's where my (English) wife and I will be moving there when we go back home next year. It's large enough to provide everything you need, but small enough to commute without any trouble. Adelaide's charm is in its small size, excellent planning, quaint old buildings, and beautiful tree-lined avenues.

Sounds like you haven't see much of the city beyond the CBD and Glenelg. I suggest you get out there and learn what Adelaide has to offer.

Check the price of tickets from Perth to Melbourne/Sydney and then compare them with the price of tickets from Adelaide. Gee, I think we're onto something here!

The 8-hour drive to Melbourne is child's play. I drove it twice when I took the missus for a holiday Down Under in 2006.

I actually enjoy myself more in the dives - people are more on my wavelength
