Cod is very overrated in my ever so humble opinion. Also how does fish get a nationality. Granted it may be caught in waters around a country but who knows where it was born.

Why do people move to the other side of the world only to take the UK with them?
As much as I love proper English fish & chips, English fish & chips should stay in England.
Besides, frozen cod shipped half way around the world will never be as good as fresh fish caught locally.

No and I wouldn't go there just for steak, but when I am there...
The first thing I do when I go back the UK, inparticular Manchester, is buy fish and chips. That's one of the joys of visiting. When I go to Australia the last thing I want to eat is English fish & chips.
It's a bit like going to Spain and never leaving 'little England'. Why bother leaving the UK in the first place if you are not going to explore other things? It's insular.
(in Australia I eat a good old Aussie steak and I do quite like gummy shark)

Got a fish and chip shop in mornington and iv managed to find an english company that is willing to ship me cod, haddock, plaice and scampi. Considering cod back home sells for nearly 5 pound a piece what would you expect to pay over here. There is a shop in Queensland that charges about 15 dollars for a peice. What do you think. I also do homemade chips not the frozen crap that everyone else does also curry sauce and mushy peas. Im in main st mornington Rossi Bennetts

Very true. So that makes up for it. Unfortunately getting it fresh and tasty isn't always guaranteed, so shopping around is needed. And I agree with the other post that the real important part it getting the chips right. With or without the curry sauce or peas!!
