Still falling here, $2.909 from the Murphy's, which I can be certain saying won't be a Top Tier supplier. Bizarrely enough I have noticed that my mpg seem to be marginally better when I have gassed up there, probably because I'm usually on the long haul to Lake Keowee and the hills in the development parks are not quite as tortuous as those at the Asheville end. I don't have any expectations of better quality from a Murphy's and when I'm getting shot of 50 gallons a week a 40c difference soon adds up.

Dang it ddsrph, now you have me debating about whether to pull a plug. The plug removal itself is easy but getting to them not quite a simple as it was on my old Triumph Herald...

If you do pull one please post a photo. I just can’t imagine a plug working efficiently after 225k miles. Modern electronic ignitions put out a very good spark and can power thru a plug that probably wouldn’t be firing at all with an older point type ignition.

I should probably thank you for bringing up the topic. I didn’t have my last two vehicles in the US for very long so didn’t even think about plug life, my last two vehicles in the UK were diesels which don’t have them and while I used to keep a good routine going on the bikes I probably haven’t replaced a spark plug on a car/ truck for nearly 20 years!
After doing a bit of digging I was expecting some major degraded insulators,, change out interval is supposedly 100k instead the biggest worry turned out to be whether they’d snap on their way out. Four on the passenger side were in really clean locations, las in I’d be happy eating off the block, all the ports were dry and the plugs were tight but came out reasonably easily The driver side definitely had me sweating, plugs were very tight and there must have been some condensation get into some of the ports as there was rust on the plug thread. Block wasn’t so clean on the drivers side, probably due to the occasional sloppy oil change on my part!

Overall, plugs weren’t too bad, a little spark corrosion damage on some of the ground electrodes, the center electrode were in remarkably good condition for ten years in a hard worked truck.
Bit of discoloring on the insulators but I’ve seen much worse, some of them even had clean white areas still. Top parts of the plug were really clean…

(Yeah, spent the day making up mirror frames from pre painted and moulded stock, my pet hate, in my downtime!)

Not sure if it's a sign of things to come but the station I paid $2.909 at a few days ago is advertising at $3.299....

Wish I could tell you that my new plugs made for a smoother journey but the roads are so bad around here I can't feel any difference.

They may help your gas mileage a little.

Hmmm ... I drove past our local gas station 3 days in a row (incl. yesterday) and it was $5.99 for the cheapest option; but gas buddy is saying $5.79, and says updated 1 day ago. I'm beginning to wonder just how accurate it is. We seem to be trending upwards towards (and beyond) $6 here in Norcal ... I have a hybrid and hardly drive so don't care personally, but that's a lot for people to be spending on gas!

My new truck is diesel so that's now my focus.
Just had a trip to North Alabama to visit daughter and family.
Cheapest diesel was in Montgomery at $4.19 (where we filled up).
Most expensive was at I-10/Hwy 231 where it was $5.19.

You must have decided on Huntsville to escape the storm. You earlier mentioned Orlando which got bad flooding. Huntsville is our go to town for our big city shopping plus the large Army base has commissary and exchange which we use a lot.

Don't think I mentioned Orlando. The escape plan was always going to be Huntsville but when the storm turned we didn't need to evacuate but went to see the kids anyway but without the RV.
